Dear Judged
Lawyer in LoveI am working at a law firm in Pennsylvania. I have fallen in love with my
client but am scared to tell him that. But do you think this is okay?
Should I go ahead and tell him this? Do I have to keep it strictly
professional and bury my feelings about him?

Dear Gitz,
Wow, this is a first. I don’t think anyone has ever asked the Judge
for such serious relationship advice….I feel like Carrie
Bradshaw…with out all the expensive shoes. Okay, back to you: I
guess the answer depends on a lot of different factors. It would be
ridiculous to say that this never happens, because it happens all the
time…and usually without any sort of professional consequences.
However, I would still consider the circumstances to be the most important
factor. It’s one thing to fall for your client when you’re
doing mergers and acquisitions…it’s quite another to fall for
your client when you’re representing him in a divorce. So use your
discretion, and decide accordingly.
