Firm’s strict dress codeThe partners at the firm I work at often disregard the firm’s strict
dress code. I, on the other hand, am forced to wear a suit every day. A lot
of the other people here are beginning to ignore the dress code,
too—do you think its safe for me to blow it off too?

Dear creativejunk,
I feel your pain. The Judge also had to endure hot summers in wool suits
(my first office was too formal for linen). But as much as it sucks, I
wouldn’t blow off the dress code just yet. Wait until you get a
formal okay from the HR dept (it sounds like its coming soon, if
that’s any consolation). Assuming you want to stay on the
partner’s good side, its better to follow their rules, even if they
don’t. Hey, look on the bright side…
