Dear Judged
how to build clientele..I would like to figure
in the list of the most successful attorneys for 2007. This
infers that I would have to work on my list of clients. From
your experience, how would you help me climb up the rungs faster?

Dear Unununium,
Aren’t we
feeling a little ambitious? That’s quite a goal you have…and
to be honest, I’m not sure how feasible it is. However, if
you’re looking to build up your clientele, here are some things you
should consider:
1. Word of mouth: I’m not
kidding…you’d be surprised how much business a good referral
from one of your existing clients can bring in. Subtly let your clients
know that if they know anyone who needs an attorney, you’re the go to
person…
2. Quality advertising: By quality, I’m not
talking about pasting your face on the side of a bus. Invest in some
quality, professional marketing material, and send it out to everyone in
your area.
3.
Connections: Try and network with other attorneys in your area.
Attend those terrible bar mixers, and see if you can connect with other
attorneys who would be willing refer some business your way. Yes, hanging
out with other lawyers sucks, but success comes at a price!
Good
luck!
