Dear Judged
CrimLawI’m currently working for a Law firm in News Jersey. I’ve been
assigned a criminal case where my client is in serious shit for no fault of
hers. But for some reason I know that I will not be able to pull her out
of the mess. This is my second criminal case, a real serious one.
I’m losing it…Judge
Lawyer in New Jersey

Dear Doppiedaps,
Are you sure you’re just not nervous? If this is just a case of
nerves, calm down and remember that the partners probably wouldn’t
have assigned you the case if they didn’t think you could handle it.
However, if you feel like this case is way out of your league and
you’re not equipped to properly represent your client, then you
should definitely speak to one of the partners about it. Try to get some
supervision/help. If they can’t offer you that, then try to get the
case reassigned to another more qualified attorney. Your duty is to your
client, and if you know you can’t properly represent her, you
absolutely have to turn the case over to someone who can.
