Andy Satterfield, former chair of the employment law practice group at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, has joined Jackson Lewis, one of the nation's largest workplace law firms, as managing partner of its Greenville, South Carolina office.

Satterfield brings a wealth of legal and management experience to the firm. Heller Ehrman Named Among the "Elite Eight" in PINK Magazine and KPMG's List of Top Companies for Women
Heller Ehrman LLP announced that it is one of America’s Top Companies for Women as named by PINK magazine and KPMG, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, in PINK’s August-September issue. Heller Ehrman is the only law firm to make it onto the list.

After a comprehensive application and evaluation process involving many of America’s top companies, PINK and KPMG recognized eight finalists for their strong focus on the Four P’s: Power (women in board seats and C-suites, and those with P&L responsibility); Pipeline (leadership training, mentoring and coaching programs to retain talented women and move them up the ranks); Pay (evidence of pay equity, including the number of women in the top 20 percent of company salaries); and People (a work culture that allows women to have “a beautiful career and a beautiful life”).

“All companies would do well to adopt the best practices demonstrated by Heller Ehrman LLP, which is committed to truly advancing women in the workplace,” says Cynthia Good, founding editor of PINK.

“Heller Ehrman continually strives to ensure the firm provides a work environment that fosters and enhances the recruitment, retention and career development of women so that they can reach their full potential,” says Judy Miles, shareholder and managing director of people at Heller Ehrman. “PINK and KPMG’s recognition of Heller Ehrman underscores our commitment to advancing women, and we are delighted to be included on the list.”

PINK magazine offers editorial content from award-winning writers and columnists in America’s only national magazine dedicated exclusively to women’s professional growth. Other members of PINK’s 2007 “Elite Eight” include: Aflac, Inc., FedEx, Kelly Services, American Express Co., Grant Thornton LLP, Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and Wachovia Corp.

In addition to the “Four P’s,” Heller Ehrman demonstrates its commitment to enriching the careers of women through its Gender Diversity Committee. In 2006, the Committee launched the “Opt-In Project,” a nationwide effort aimed at exploring the “opt-out” trend, which refers to the scores of women who obtain the highest levels of education, enter the workforce in record numbers, and then choose to leave employment. After conducting a series of roundtable discussions featuring leaders from different industries, Heller Ehrman issued a report that summarized the activities of the Opt-in project and identified several ways to improve the retention and advancement of women in the workplace.
