Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss Attorney Elected to Electronic Transactions Association's Government Relations Committee
The ETA Government Relations Committee supports the development of ETA's strategy and activities in the government relations arena. Specifically, it is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and evaluating legislative and regulatory activities at the national and state level and assisting in the communication of issues of importance to members. The committee also makes recommendations on areas for direct advocacy or specific positions that the association should promulgate. The ETA is a national trade association comprised of companies who offer electronic processing products and services.

Weston is an associate of Jaffe's Finance Practice Group. She is a 2003 graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University and a 2006 magna cum laude graduate of the Michigan State University College of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association.

Hogan & Hartson Represents Partners Trust Financial Group in $555 Million Merger With M&T Bank Corporation
Hogan & Hartson LLP announced today that it is advising Partners Trust Financial Group, Inc. in a definitive merger agreement with M&T Bank Corporation. Under the terms of the merger agreement, Partners Trust will merge with M&T in a stock and cash transaction valued at approximately $555 million, or $12.50 per Partners Trust share.

M&T will acquire 33 branch locations in upstate New York and approximately $2.3 billion in deposits and $2.3 billion in loans from Partners Trust.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including stockholder and regulatory approvals.

The Hogan & Hartson team representing Partners Trust included Washington, D.C. partners Stuart G. Stein and Daniel Keating; Washington, D.C. associates Gregory F. Parisi, Daniel S. Meade, and Jason S. McCaffrey; and New York associate Andrea B. Sluchan. For tax and benefits, the team included Washington, D.C. partners Scott McClure and William Neff, and Washington, D.C. associate Brian Shiker.

Gregory Andrews Joins Dykema
Dykema announces that Gregory H. Andrews has joined the firm’s Employment Department, resident in its Chicago office. Mr. Andrews’ litigation experience is focused on representing private equity and closely held corporations in unfair competition, confidentiality and trade secret matters, as well as the ADA, FMLA and defense of employers in Title VII and FLSA overtime audits and cases. He has successfully guided employers through appeal as well as numerous trials, including a jury trial win in a Title VII race case and numerous successes in unfair competition cases and NLRB hearings.

In his labor law representation of employers, Mr. Andrews successfully guides employers through union organizing attempts via on-site coaching and training of supervisors and management in addition to representation before the NLRB.

A frequent speaker for the Illinois State, DuPage and Kane County Bar Associations, Mr. Andrews has for the past fifteen years also taught human resources as an instructor for Aurora University and Northern Illinois University’s SHRM Certification Test Preparation Course.

A resident of St. Charles, Illinois, Mr. Andrews received his B.A. from Luther College, his M.S. from the University of Illinois, and his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Investor Group In Merger Agreement For Sale Of Cumulus Media
Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is advising an investor group led by Lewis W. Dickey, Jr., Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cumulus Media Inc., and an affiliate of Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity in connection with the execution of a definitive merger agreement under which the investor group will acquire Cumulus in a transaction valued at approximately $1.3 billion.

Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity is the private equity investment arm of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. Cumulus Media Inc. is the second-largest radio company in the United States based on station count. Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is a leading international law firm with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London, Paris, Frankfurt, Moscow, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The Debevoise team includes partners Franci J. Blassberg and Stephen R. Hertz and associates Stefan P. Stauder and Suzie C. Alway.

Jones Day also advised the investor group.

Seven Coolidge Attorneys Named Ohio Rising Stars
Seven of Coolidge's attorneys were recently named Ohio Rising Stars by Law & Politics magazine. Those selected were:

Maibeth Porter, Carol Sue Nelson Inducted Into Litigation Counsel of America
Birmingham attorneys Maibeth J. Porter and Carol Sue Nelson, both of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C., were inducted into the Litigation Counsel of America at the LCA’s Spring Conference and Induction of Fellows in New York.

Ms. Porter is a founding member and shareholder of Maynard, Cooper, focusing her practice on products liability litigation. She graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1980 where she was a Patrick Wilson Scholar and a member of the Vanderbilt Law Review. Following law school Ms. Porter served as a clerk to the Honorable Seybourn H. Lynne, United States District Court, Northern District of Alabama. Porter has been named in Best Lawyers in America® 2007 for Mass Tort Litigation and Product Liability Litigation.

Ms. Nelson, also a shareholder at Maynard, Cooper, is an experienced labor and employment lawyer practicing for the last 30 years. She graduated magna cum laude from Cumberland School of Law in 1977 where she was a member of Curia Honoris and the Cumberland Law Review. Following law school Ms. Nelson served as a law clerk to the Honorable James H. Hancock, United States District Court, Northern District of Alabama.
