14 Perkins Coie Brown & Bain Attorneys Named Super Lawyers
Fourteen Perkins Coie Brown & Bain attorneys in nine practice areas have been honored by their peers as "Southwest Super Lawyers" for 2007, the firm announced. The list of recognized attorneys has been published in Southwest Super Lawyers magazine.

Lathrop & Gage's Jerome Smith Presents Valuable Patent Law Information to Israeli Law Firms
Jerome Smith, a registered patent attorney and of counsel with Lathrop & Gage L.C., traveled to Israel to present on U.S. patent law to four law firms.

Smith, who practices intellectual property in the firm’s Kansas City, Mo. office, gave the legal professionals practical tips for drafting U.S. patent applications. He based his presentation on his paper, A Patent Drafter’s Sweet Sixteen on the Road to a Champion Patent. Technology is emerging as a key player in Israel’s economy. According to the Gartner Group, more than 100 Israeli high-tech companies trade on NASDAQ.

“U.S. patents are essential and a driving force for Israel’s high-tech economy,” Smith said. “It is important for these innovative companies to protect their intellectual property assets. I’ve been privileged to have the opportunity to give my colleagues in Israel some important suggestions to ensure their patent applications get the job done.”

Smith has been assisting Israeli companies with intellectual property matters, including acquiring U.S. patents, since 1996. He regularly advises companies in fields such as robotics, packet switched networks for cellular telephones, voice over networks, imaging, semiconductors, software and medical devices. He is a member at Kehilath Israel Synagogue in Overland Park, Kan.

Haskell Slaughter’s Rotenstreich Leads Tri-State Wireless Association Meeting
N. Andrew Rotenstreich, an attorney with Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC and founding President of the Alabama Wireless Association, will serve as moderator of an industry panel at the Summer 2007 joint meeting of the Alabama Wireless Association, the Georgia Wireless Association and the Tennessee Wireless Association. The meeting will be held Friday, June 15 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mr. Rotenstreich, who helped organize the tri-state meeting, will lead a panel featuring industry leaders Doug Huff, Senior Vice President, Finance and Site Operations of American Tower Corporation; Marc Ganzi, CEO of Global Tower Partners, and Doug Wiest, CEO of National Grid Wireless US. Eckert Seamans Adds Attorneys in Pittsburgh Office
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today announced that attorneys Stephen A. Bucchianeri and Miranda E. Nickles have joined the firm as Associates in the firm’s Pittsburgh office.

Stephen A. Bucchianeri joined as an Associate in the Intellectual Property Department. He focuses his practice on intellectual property matters with substantial experience in engineering. Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, Mr. Bucchianeri served as patent counsel at CNH (Case New Holland) America LLC, where he managed invention disclosures and patent portfolios; prepared and prosecuted patent applications; conducted on-site invention disclosure review meetings; and rendered patentability, right to use and infringement opinions. Mr. Bucchianeri earned his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 2004. He earned a B.S. in Engineering Science (with honors) and an M.Eng. in Engineering Mechanics from The Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Bucchianeri is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He resides in Monongahela, Pennsylvania.

Miranda E. Nickles joined as an Associate in the Labor and Employment Department. Ms. Nickles represents publicly-traded and closely-held corporations in a broad spectrum of labor and employment matters. Her practice comprises state and federal court litigation of claims arising under state and federal employment laws, including discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination suits on the basis of age, race, gender, disability, national origin and family/medical leave. She also represents employers in matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act, including unionization campaigns, labor negotiations, grievances and arbitrations, unfair labor practice proceedings, and labor aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Nickles counsels employers on day-to-day personnel matters and practices, such as drafting and implementing employment policies and employee handbooks, administering family and medical leave policies, managing unemployment compensation claims, conducting internal investigations, and compliance with state and federal minimum wage, overtime and wage payment laws. Ms. Nickles is a member of the Labor and Employment Sections of the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association. Additionally, she serves as a volunteer for Streetlaw and as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Youthworks, Inc. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Ms. Nickles earned her law degree from the Northwestern University School of Law in 2002 and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, where she graduated magna cum laude. She resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
