LeClair Ryan Attorneys, Practice Areas Recognized in Chambers USA 2007 Survey
Chambers & Partners selected four LeClair Ryan attorneys for inclusion in the 2007 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers. Additionally, three of the firm’s practice areas were profiled in the survey. These results were officially released in June 2007. The following LeClair Ryan attorneys were selected in their area of practice:

• Everette G. “Buddy” Allen, Jr. – Litigation – Rank 1
• Brian Buniva – Environment – Rank 2
• Gary LeClair – Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions – Rank 2
• Clinton Morse – Labor & Employment – Rank 3

The practice areas profiled in the survey are:
• Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions – Rank 3
• Labor & Employment – Rank 3
• Litigation: General Commercial – Rank 3

Ranking in Chambers annual guide to leading lawyers is a result of thousands of client interviews and independent peer reviews. Numerous factors, such as technical ability, professional conduct, client service, commitment, diligence and commercial awareness, are considered when ranking both lawyers and law firms. According to Chambers & Partners “no lawyers are included unless they are strongly recommended by the market, most importantly purchasers of legal services.”

Now in its second year, the Blank Rome Scholars Program provides law students with tuition assistance in an amount equal to $7,500, mentoring relationships with members of the Firm throughout law school and the opportunity to participate in the Firm’s highly-ranked Summer Associate Program.

Scholarship recipients are selected from partner law schools based on their academic achievements, demonstrated leadership, community service, work experience and commitment to the practice of law. “We received many exceptional submissions this year, and we are pleased to welcome Derron, Richard and Tyechia to join the Firm for the summer,” said Nathaniel R. Jones, Blank Rome’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer. “The Blank Rome Scholars Program is a key component of our diversity initiatives and further demonstrates the Firm’s commitment to providing opportunities to the minority community, as diversity is essential to the future success of every law firm.”

“The Blank Rome Scholars Program is an important component of our diversity initiatives and also serves as a catalyst to attract exceptional law students,” said Carl M. Michael Feinman Receives Lawyers Alliance Award for Pro Bono Leadership
The Lawyers Alliance of New York is presenting its Award for Pro Bono Leadership to Blank Rome real estate partner Michael Feinman on June 20, 2007.

The Lawyers Alliance Award for Pro Bono Leadership is presented each year to a law firm partner who has performed exemplary pro bono service to the nonprofit organizations that the Alliance serves. This year, Lawyers Alliance for New York is pleased to present the award to Michael Feinman in recognition of his 14 years of outstanding service as a volunteer attorney. Real estate issues are among the most common legal needs that nonprofit organizations must address in order to provide services in New York neighborhoods. Numerous nonprofit organizations have benefited from Michael's expert real estate and financing guidance over the years, and—we trust—many more will benefit from his counsel in the years to come. Michael sets an example for all of the lawyers in his firm and around the city, partners and associates, and we salute his good work.

The work that Michael is currently doing for the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation—including advising on all legal and transactional matters related to the renovation of a former federal building to serve as a multi-use nonprofit center—is only the latest example of the difference that the pro bono dedication of a law firm partner can make in the work of clients and the quality of life in the neighborhoods that they serve. The $500,000 payment for its share in the sale of a real estate project that he recently obtained for another client, the Hollis Local Development Corporation, is another example of that impact. The Lawyers Alliance Award for Pro Bono Leadership was designed for law firm partners like Michael.

As the interest in pro bono service grows among lawyers and law firms, Lawyers Alliance finds that an increasing number of distinguished law firm partners are becoming involved in volunteer service for the nonprofit organizations we represent. Clearly, attorneys at the most senior levels are finding pro bono work fulfilling and exciting.

Michael Feinman’s practice at Blank Rome focuses on real estate, with particular experience in the area of financing, where he represents both lenders and borrowers. Mr. Feinman represents financial institutions, funds, developers, investors, and individual entrepreneurs in a broad range of sophisticated transactions in the areas of securitized and portfolio mortgage lending, acquisitions and sales, leasing and lease-based financing, development and workouts.

Mr. Feinman has written articles published in the New York Law Journal, Real Estate Finance Journal, National Law Journal, Mortgage and Real Estate Executives Report, and the National Real Estate Investor. Mr. Feinman is also a frequent writer and speaker on topics of interest to the real estate community.
