Vasilios Peros, Chair of HPK’s Technology & Intellectual Property group, was a speaker at the “Three Paths to Entrepreneurship” seminar this June, sponsored by the Community College of Baltimore.

“Three Paths to Entrepreneurship” provided participants an overview of the alternatives of starting a business, purchasing an existing business and purchasing a franchise. The seminar provided an in-depth boot camp in the path of the participant’s choice, and the opportunity to hear about the experiences of a group of Baltimore entrepreneurs and their advisors.

Hodes, Pessin & Katz, P.A. (HPK), is pleased to announce the addition of patent law leaders, Leonard Bloom and his associates, to its Technology & Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Leonard Bloom, Robert M. Gamson and Sam Rosen bring over 100 years of combined experience with global patent and intellectual property matters to the Firm, including the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Systems, Software, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical, and Design disciplines.

Prior to joining HPK, Leonard Bloom served as Senior Counsel at Armstrong, Kratz, Quintos, Hanson & Brooks, LLP, where he managed Armstrong’s Baltimore office. Prior thereto, Len had organized and managed Black & Decker’s international patent department, as Director of Patents & Licensing. He joins HPK as Senior Counsel.

Robert Gamson, who joins HPK as Counsel, was Supervisory Chemist at Aberdeen Proving Ground, and Sam Rosen, who joins HPK as Of Counsel, is a retired Patent Examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office and a former registered pharmacist.

HPK’s Technology & Intellectual Property practice group, chaired by Vasilios Peros, provides a niche practice of legal services ranging from intellectual property matters – such as patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets – to technology transactions – such as licensing, tech transfer, Internet related matters and technology acquisitions. The practice group works with clients across many industries including software, information technology, aerospace, defense, medical devices and biotechnology.

“We are fortunate to have them add their unique strengths to our firm,” said Drake Zaharris, Co-Managing Director of HPK. “Businesses today understand that the increasingly competitive and global marketplace makes their technology and intellectual property one of their most critical and valuable assets. The experience of these three outstanding attorneys will help our clients acquire, protect, commercialize and enforce their rights in the United States and throughout the world.” The practice group’s understanding of businesses and industries, combined with its legal, business and technical expertise, allows them to provide effective legal protection, as well as business opportunities to clients.

Primary Practice Areas

Construction, Corporate, Education, Elder Care, Employment Relations/Labor Law, Entertainment, Environmental, Estate & Wealth Preservation, Executive Compensation, Family Law, Farm Planning, Franchise & Distribution, Health Care & Life Sciences, Insurance, Litigation, Municipal Liability, Petroleum Industry Practice, Planning For Professional Athletes, Real Estate, Land Use & Zoning, Same-Sex Law, Tax, Technology & Intellectual Property, White-Collar Criminal Defense.
