Michael Kuhn appointed to State Bar's Professionalism Committee
Michael K. Kuhn, a partner in the Business Transactions section of Jackson Walker, has been appointed to the Professionalism Committee of the State Bar of Texas. The purpose of this standing committee is to identify factors that influence professionalism and to develop and recommend to the State Bar Board ways to improve professionalism, with particular attention to the professional development of new lawyers.

Mr. Kuhn is experienced in the areas of real estate acquisition, disposition, development, and leasing matters. His work encompasses traditional purchases and sales, leases and financings involving office buildings, shopping centers, commercial and residential condominiums, and mixed-use projects, including large portfolio and multi-state transactions.

Mr. Kuhn is listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. He was named one of "Houston's Top Lawyers" by H Texas Magazine in 2006 and 2007 and was named a "Texas Super Lawyer" in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 issues of Texas Monthly magazine.

Geoffrey S. Hersko admitted to New York State Bar
Geoffrey S. Hersko, an attorney in Hodgson Russ LLP’s Real Estate & Finance Practice Group, was recently admitted to the New York State Bar.

Mr. Hersko concentrates his practice on real estate and real estate litigation. Prior to joining Hodgson Russ, Mr. Hersko was an intern for a New York-based small claims arbitrator and for New York Supreme Court Judge Leon Ruchelsman.

Godfrey & Kahn Attorneys Present at the Great Lakes Governors’ Forum on Chinese Trade and Investment
Godfrey & Kahn, S.C., the first and only Wisconsin-based law firm to open a representative office in China, announced that it participated in the Great Lakes Governors’ Forum on Chinese Trade and Investment in Chicago on May 14. Douglas M. Poland and Josh Johanningmeier, members of the firm’s Product Liability & Tort Practice Group, presented on “Managing Product Liability Risk in the U.S. Marketplace.”

The Council of Great Lakes Governors’ goal is to ensure the entire Great Lakes region is both economically sound and environmentally conscious in addressing problems and challenges. This year’s forum provided an opportunity for visiting Chinese executives to network with state and regional business leaders while learning more about opportunities to invest in the Great Lakes region.

Fredrikson & Byron Attorney Richard Kyle Elected As Ramsey County Bar Association President
Richard H. Kyle, Jr., a firm shareholder and member of Fredrikson & Byron’s White Collar & Regulatory Defense and Litigation Groups, has been elected as President of the Ramsey County Bar Association (RCBA). Kyle’s term began July 1, 2007. Kyle’s priorities during his presidency are focusing on judicial independence, and the long-term financial stability of the association.

Richard has considerable criminal defense experience defending individuals and businesses at trial and on appeal in state and federal court. He has worked on a wide variety of white collar cases, including antitrust, bank fraud, environmental crimes, health care fraud, mail and wire fraud, securities fraud, and tax evasion. In addition, Richard handles other serious misdemeanor and felony cases for Fredrikson & Byron. Richard is regularly named one of the top 40 criminal defense lawyers in Minnesota by the Minnesota Journal of Law and Politics.

Fox Rothschild Continues to Grow its Litigation Department
Fox Rothschild LLP welcomes Stephanie Nolan Deviney, Esq. as an Associate in its Litigation department and Construction Law group, resident in the firm’s Exton, Pennsylvania office. She has experience representing contractors and subcontractors in commercial litigation matters, including construction lien claims, mechanic’s liens, and bond liens.

Before joining Fox Rothschild, Deviney was associated with a regional firm in New Jersey where she represented both debtors and creditors in all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings. She also represented numerous contractors and subcontractors in construction-related matters. Deviney previously served as a Trustee of the Gloucester County Bar Association in New Jersey, and completed the Bankruptcy Inn of Court in 1998. While in law school, she was a legal intern for the Honorable Joseph E. Irenas, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, as well as for the Pennsylvania Attorney General-Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Deviney earned her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of Pennsylvania State University in 1997, during which time she was a legal intern with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection.
