Phillips Lytle Attorney Dia H. Nicolatos Appointed To Mental Health Association Board Of Directors
Dia H. Nicolatos, an attorney with Phillips Lytle LLP, a full service law firm with statewide coverage, was recently appointed to the board of directors for the Mental Health Association of Erie County, Inc.

The Mental Health Association offers programs and services for adults, children and families free of charge. In addition, the organization also provides advocacy on behalf of mental health consumers and family members.

At Phillips Lytle, Ms. Nicolatos concentrates her practice in the area of pharmaceutical litigation. She received her J.D. from University at Buffalo Law School, The State University of New York, a M.A. in Social Work, magna cum laude, and M.A. in Education, magna cum laude, both from University at Buffalo and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Buffalo State College. Ms. Nicolatos is a member of the New York and Erie County Bar Associations as well as the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.

Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. Hires New Litigation Associates in Dallas Office
Texas-based Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. (Munsch Hardt), a commercial law firm with offices in Dallas, Houston and Austin, is pleased to announce that Robert E. Luttrell, III and Amy L. Rickers have joined the firm’s Dallas office as associates.

Robert E. Luttrell, III joins the firm as an associate in Munsch Hardt’s litigation practice group. He previously served as a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force where he practiced criminal prosecution and defense, labor and employment law and tort litigation. Robert has also represented the Air Force in complex civil litigation focusing on government contracts, including complex weapons systems and construction. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and his Juris Doctorate degree from Tulane University School of Law. Robert is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, Court of Appeals for the Arms Service, State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice law in Texas and in Colorado. He has also received the Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal (issued by both the Saudi Arabian and Kuwaiti governments), Meritorious Service Medal and Southwest Asia Medial.

Amy L. Rickers joins Munsch Hardt’s litigation practice group as an associate in the Dallas office. Her practice focuses on the prosecution and defense of environmental litigation involving the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, as well as other local, state and federal environmental regulations. Prior to joining Munsch Hardt, Amy worked at the City of Dallas on both prosecution and defense environmental litigation matters for over six years, where she obtained grant funding to establish the Dallas Environmental Enforcement Program and supervised the program for three years. She has also advised multiple city departments regarding compliance with and enforcement of environmental regulations and worked on issues involving the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Environmental Protection Agency. Amy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Texas Christian University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas; U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of Texas; Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section; Dallas Bar Association, Environmental Law Section and United Way.

Hope College Names Miller Johnson Attorney To Its Board Of Trustees
Mary V. Bauman, a Member at Miller Johnson, was recently appointed to a four-year term on Hope College’s Board of Trustees.

Ms. Bauman has been practicing law since 1986. Her practice is focused on employee benefits and executive compensation with her primary concentration being on health and welfare benefits. Ms. Bauman is listed in the “Best Lawyers in America®” for Employee Benefits Law.

Ms. Bauman currently serves on the board of trustees of the Forest Hills Educational Foundation and is a member of the West Michigan Advisory Council for Inforum – a professional women’s alliance. She is a past member of the boards of Arbor Circle Corporation; HHS, Health Options; and Western Theological Seminary, and of the Board of Benefit Services for the Reformed Church in America. Ms. Bauman also served on the presidential search committee at Hope College.

Ms. Bauman received a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in 1980 from Hope College and her law degree, summa cum laude, in 1986 from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

GARLAND ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN OF AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRIAL LAWYERS
Miles & Stockbridge P.C. is pleased to announce that James P. Garland has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Attorney Client Relationships Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

The Attorney Client Relationships Committee was established to examine and keep abreast of developments in the field of relationships between attorneys and clients and particularly as they may relate to the traditional privilege of communications between attorney and client and maintenance of client confidences. There are currently 25 members on the committee, including Mr. Garland.

Mr. Garland has served on the Attorney Client Relationships Committee for the past four years and most recently served as the Vice Chair for the term of one year. In his new role, Mr. Garland will generally supervise the operations of the committee; coordinate activities for the committee; assign tasks to committee members; review, assign and approve reports of the committee; attend various board meetings; and attend various committee hearings that could have an effect on issues that the committee is reviewing.

Mr. Garland succeeds William McGuinness of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP.

Michael Best Announces Changes in Management Committee
Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is pleased to announce that David B. Smith, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, has been elected to serve as Chair of the firm’s Management Committee. Smith succeeds David A. Krutz as Chair. Krutz will assume Thomas E. Obenberger’s role as the firm’s Managing Partner on February 1, 2008.

Smith has been with the firm since 1978 and has served in many leadership roles, including two separate Management Committee terms and Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Under Smith’s leadership the Intellectual Property Group grew to become one of the largest practices in the firm and achieved national ranking. “I am pleased to lead the firm’s Management Committee during this time of strategic growth and progression and look forward to building on our nearly 160-year tradition of excellence,” Smith said. Smith’spractice includes patent and trademark prosecution in the United States and foreign countries, licensing of technology, product design and development counseling, and intellectual property litigation. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the intellectual property field.

Linda H. Bochert, a partner in the firm’s Madison office, has been newly elected to the firm's Management Committee. Bochert has been with the firm for 16 years and also has served in many leadership roles, including: Chair of the Environmental Practice Group for eight years, Co-Chair of the firm’s Professional Development Committee for 10 years, and member of the firm’s Diversity and Compensation Committees. Bochert’s practice focuses on environmental law and includes wastewater permitting, stormwater management, air permitting, wetlands regulation, navigable waters and Public Trust Doctrine issues, conservation easements, Green Tier certifications, and large facility, landfill, pipeline and power plant siting. Bochert is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of environmental law. Prior to joining Michael Best, Bochert was with the State of Wisconsin Departments of Natural Resources and Justice for 17 years.

Scott C. Beightol has been re-elected to serve another thee-year term on the firm’s Management Committee. Beightol, who started with the firm upon graduation from law school, represents management in all aspects of employment and labor law, with special emphasis in counseling and defending employers in employment discrimination and other litigation before federal and state courts, the NLRB, and arbitrators.
