Weil Gotshal Named “Global Elite” by Legal Business
"Weil, Gotshal & Manges was named one of the Global Elite by Legal Business in its fourth annual list of the top 15 firms that are dominant worldwide with respect to reputation and transactional prowess. The publication referred to Weil Gotshal as “a renowned stalwart of the US bankruptcy bar” and also noted that the firm’s “M&A business has started to shine.”

Legal Business also recounted that in May this year, Weil Gotshal represented clients in the biggest private equity deals on both sides of the Atlantic - counselling Goldman Sachs on the $25 billion buyout of US wireless operator Alltel, and Terra Firma on its £3.2 billion bid for UK record label EMI."

Weil Gotshal is Recognized for Pro Bono Work by The Financial Times
Weil Gotshal was ranked as a “Stand-out” for its pro bono efforts by The Financial Times.The publication noted that pro bono work was “at the heart of [the firm’s] corporate responsibility strategies” and they also highlighted the firm’s pro bono policy, which resulted in the firm donated approximately 90,000 hours to pro bono work in 2006 - the equivalent of 44 full-time associate positions.

Davis Wright Tremaine Again Ranked as a Leading Seattle Law Firm by Corporate Board Member Magazine
"In its seventh annual industry survey ranking top local law firms, Corporate Board Member magazine has once again listed Davis Wright Tremaine as one of the top two firms in the Seattle metropolitan area. The firm also ranked number two last year.

The survey once again included 25 of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas. Each area was evaluated through a questionnaire sent to directors of boards of local major publicly traded companies listed with NASDAQ, the NYSE or the American Stock Exchange. The directors chose from a list of the 20 largest local firms and selected the five local law firms they would most likely employ to aid their companies on a broad range of corporate legal issues. The top five firms were ranked based on the number of votes received."

Anaysa Gallardo Joins Cozen O’Connor’s Miami Office as Associate
"Anaysa Gallardo recently joined Cozen O’Connor’s Miami office as an associate in the general litigation department. Prior to joining the firm, Gallardo was an associate with Shutts & Bowen LLP in Miami. Gallardo focuses her practice on commercial litigation matters, including insurance coverage, contract disputes, class actions and complex commercial litigation cases in state and federal courts. She has experience in drafting research memoranda, discovery responses, pleadings and motions. She is also experienced in mediations and arbitrations, having handled the arbitrations of commercial disputes before the American Arbitration Association.

Admitted to practice in Florida and before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, Gallardo is a member of the American and Dade County Bar Associations, as well as The Florida Bar and the Cuban American Bar Association.

Gallardo is a graduate of Boston College (B.A., 2000) and Boston College Law School (J.D., 2003), where she was a member of the John J. Gibbons National Criminal Moot Court Team and the Homelessness Clinic, advocating tenant rights for underprivileged families."

Cozen O’Connor Member Kenan G. Loomis Named Managing Partner of Atlanta Office
"Cozen O’Connor has announced that member Kenan G. Loomis has been named Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Atlanta office. “We are extremely pleased to have Kenan heading the Atlanta office,” said Patrick J. O’Connor, President and CEO of Cozen O’Connor. “We look forward to the office’s continued success under his direction.”

A member in the national insurance department, Loomis has extensive experience in litigation, regulatory and contractual matters pertaining to the health, life, accident and disability insurance industry. He has litigated numerous coverage issues, including bad faith, punitive damages and deceptive trade practices claims, and has defended major insurance companies in various consumer related class actions and ERISA claims. Loomis advises insurance companies on contractual issues such as agency agreements, pharmacy benefit management agreements, and reinsurance treaties and also has experience in the implementation of new insurance products.

Loomis also regularly advises commercial general liability carriers on various coverage issues, and often defends insureds under commercial policies. He has litigated a wide variety of commercial matters involving contract disputes, Uniform Commercial Code claims, RICO claims, as well as employment disputes involving Restrictive Covenant claims, Misappropriation of Trade Secret claims and Title VII claims.

Loomis received Martindale-Hubbell's top (""AV"") Peer Review Rating and was named by Law & Politics and Atlanta magazine a “Georgia Super Lawyer” for excellence in litigation law in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association and the State Bars of Georgia and North Carolina.

A resident of Atlanta, Loomis is a graduate of Tulane University (B.A., 1983) and Emory University School of Law (J.D., 1986)."

T&K Attorney Appointed Vice-Chair of American Bar Association Committee
The international law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to congratulate Molly Steele on her appointment as Vice-Chair of the International Energy & Natural Resources Committee of the American Bar Association Section of International Law. She will assume her role in August 2007.

In this position, Steele will focus on legal education and programming with regards to privatization efforts in oil, gas, electricity, and other natural resources industries; the effects of China's territorial claim to the South China Sea; the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act challenges for U.S. energy companies operating abroad; and implications of international environmental initiatives on energy development, among numerous topics.

Steele is a Partner in the Trial Practice Group in the Firm's Dallas office. She represents clients primarily in the area of business litigation, focusing her practice on international litigation and international arbitration between citizens of different countries. Steele also has experience with class actions, covenants not to compete, misappropriation of trade secrets, trademark/trade dress infringement, real estate litigation, probate litigation, contract actions, and commercial mortgage-backed securitizations.
