Roetzel & Andress Adds Three Attorneys to Its Orlando Office
The law firm of Roetzel & Andress announces David P. Barker, Michael J. Furbush, and James N. Carlin Jr. have joined the firm's Orlando office.

"We are pleased to have Dave, Mike and Jim join our firm," said Mike Yashko, Partner-in-Charge of the Orlando office. "They are first rate lawyers and quality people. They'll be terrific assets to our clients and key additions to our expanding Orlando office".

A board certified real estate attorney, Mr. Barker, Partner, focuses his practice on commercial and residential real estate development; home construction and financing; matters involving property owners' associations; the formation of business entities and organizations; title insurance matters; and licensing matters for business. Mr. Barker received a juris doctorate degree with honors from The Ohio State University College of Law and a B.S. degree magna cum laude from the University of Akron.

Mr. Furbush, Partner, concentrates his practice on business litigation involving such complex commercial matters as trade secrets, trademark and copyright infringement, non-compete covenants, breach of contract, construction litigation and lien disputes, corporate dissolutions and shareholder disputes, employment discrimination, and antitrust litigation and counseling . He earned a juris doctorate degree with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

An associate with the firm, Mr. Carlin's practices focuses on real estate, including negotiating purchase and sale contracts, real estate development and finance, and residential and commercial closings. He earned a juris doctorate degree with honors from George Washington Law School and a B.A. degree from Duke University.

Jan Conlin Receives Women Industry Leaders Award
Jan Conlin, a partner in the Minneapolis office of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. was presented with the Women Industry Leaders Award from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

The award, which was presented at the 10th Annual Women in Business luncheon on July 25, 2007, recognizes 25 women who are at the "forefront of their industry."

Ms. Conlin has a record of results in the courtroom for her national clients. She was co-lead trial counsel in representing Pitney Bowes in its defense against Ricoh Corporation in a patent infringement suit involving mail machines. She also achieved a patent infringement verdict for her client, TriStrata Technology, Inc. against Mary Kay, Inc. in a case relating to alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) anti-aging skin technology.

Ms. Conlin is a member of the firm's Executive Board and co-chair of professional development. She practices in the areas of Intellectual Property Litigation and Business Litigation. Ms. Conlin received her law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude, and her B.A. from the University of St. Thomas, magna cum laude.

Freshfields advises Government of Bahrain on Al Dur water and power plant
International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has been appointed to represent the Government of Bahrain on the proposed development of the Al Dur independent water and power plant in Bahrain with a capacity of up to 2000MW.

Joe Huse, the partner leading the Freshfields team from the Dubai office said, 'We are very pleased to represent the Government of Bahrain on this high profile power and water deal in Bahrain.'

The team includes, of counsel Harnek Shoker (Dubai) and senior associate William Breeze (London).

This is the third power deal that Freshfields has been appointed to advise on in Bahrain. Last year Freshfields advised the Government of Bahrain on the $738.2m sale of the Al Hidd water and power plant to a consortium of International Power, Sumitomo Corporation and Suez Tractebal, which marked the first privatisation of an existing power and water generation asset in Bahrain. In 2005 the firm represented the Government of Bahrain on the development of the Al Ezzel 1,000MW independent power plant.

Burr & Forman LLP Attorneys Named in The Lawdragon 500 Dealmakers

To select this prestigious group, Lawdragon’s editorial staff conducts extensive research and phones thousands of legal professionals to solicit their opinions about who the best lawyers are. They then combine this research with votes collected through their online ballots to produce the Lawdragon 500 print magazine and online feature.

Bullivant shareholder to receive Willamette’s Lestle J. Sparks Medallion
Bullivant Houser Bailey PC, a leading West Coast law firm, is pleased to announce that named shareholder Douglas G. Houser will receive the Willamette University “Lestle J. Sparks Medallion” for 2007. The award will be presented to Houser during the Willamette Reunion Weekend on September 15. The Lestle J. Sparks Medallion is given annually to alumni who have exhibited extreme loyalty to the University throughout their lifetime.

Houser is a 1957 graduate of Willamette and has served on the University’s Board of Trustees, the Campaign Steering Committee and Law Campaign Committee, as well as volunteering with the Career Network and the Office of Admissions. He is a member of the R.A. Booth Society and has spent hundreds of hours assisting the University with fund raising and peer screening activities.

A law graduate of Stanford University, Houser is a trial attorney in Bullivant’s Portland office focusing on insurance coverage disputes.

New Chief Operating Officer Named At Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP
Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP is pleased to announce that Timothy J. McEldowney, CPA has become Chief Operating Officer of the Firm.

Mr. McEldowney will have overall responsibility for the Firm's operational and financial affairs, including administrative and Firm operations, financial and tax planning, risk management, financial reporting and budgeting. He will assist the Firm in creating enterprise, practice group and department plans, and will work with the President and Board to enhance operations and staff at all levels.

Additionally, Mr. McEldowney will also be responsible for financial analysis, as well as tax planning, compliance issues, and benefit plan preparation. He will have overall responsibility for preparing and monitoring the annual operating and capital budgets, and will set and maintain the Firm's internal financial and administrative controls. Working with the Administrative Directors of the Firm, Mr. McEldowney will direct the Firm's space, technology, marketing, human resources and accounting needs for all office locations.

Prior to joining Buckingham, Mr. McEldowney was formerly with Cohen & Company and before that, with Arthur Andersen & Co. He concentrated his accounting practice in the auditing field and brings a strong financial background to the firm.

Mr. McEldowney has a B.S. in Accounting from Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs. He also serves as Treasurer and is on the Finance Committee for the United Way of Summit County. In the past, Mr. McEldowney has served as the Finance Chair for First Night Akron, and has helped coordinate Kid’s NewsDay, which benefits Akron Children’s Hospital. He lives in North Royalton, Ohio with his wife, Barb, and three young children.
