Bingham Jumps from 31st to 19th of 200 in National Pro Bono Ranking
In September 2004, nonprofit Say Yes to Education committed itself to the education of about 400 children entering kindergarten at five Harlem public schools in New York City. In March 2005, Bingham McCutchen strengthened Say Yes with a fifteen-year commitment of legal services for all of the children and their families. Ed Maluf, a litigation partner in Bingham’s New York office and deputy chair of the firm's national pro bono committee, introduced the firm to its future clients from a wooden elementary school stage, and articulated, in both Spanish and English, the significance of such a commitment. "This program and the benefits it offers are blessings. We hope you will honor these benefits…and we will honor all of you by providing legal services when need arises," he said. Bob Dombroff, managing partner of Bingham’s New York office, pioneered the idea of a partnership with Say Yes after recognizing that they needed legal support and that an investment by Bingham would be, "at the intersection of doing good, and doing good for business." The firm’s work with Say Yes not only helps hundreds of families, but also has helped establish the firm’s pro bono presence and boost its public image in the local market, according to American Lawyer. Chairman Jay Zimmerman embraced the idea, and described the firm’s commitment as a way to "do something very significant" for New York. Jaimie Fried Dockray, managing director of Bingham’s Say Yes program, describes the partnership as "a real opportunity to see that the efforts we are making genuinely change lives." Michael Rothenberg, executive director of New York Lawyers for Public Interest recognizes the scale and significance of the partnership. "I don’t know of anyone else in New York who has taken on such an open-ended project," he said.

Gilbert Heintz & Randolph Listed in BTI Power Rankings
Gilbert Heintz & Randolph LLP (GHR) was named as a ""hidden gem"" in the BTI Power Rankings: The BTI Client Relationship Scorecard for Law Firms, 2006 (published by The BTI Consulting Group). The rankings were based on interviews with large and Fortune 1000 clients. In the rankings, GHR was listed as a firm whose excellence is underestimated by the marketplace and its peers. Clients who mentioned GHR believe they have found an excellent law firm that few others know about—or don't know enough about. Clients see the firm as special and a well-kept secret that brings added value to the law firm/client relationship.

For this study, BTI interviewed 376 corporate counsel at three types of companies: Fortune 1000 organizations, large privately held companies and major financial services firms. They conducted the interviews over a 15-month time span ending in late 2005.
