Emily Black Grey Named by Baton Rouge Business Report as one of its 2006 “Top 40 Under 40”
McGlinchey Stafford announces that attorney Emily Black Grey will be honored tonight by the Baton Rouge Business Report as one of this year’s “Top 40 Under 40.” The award is given annually to the city’s outstanding business and community leaders who are under the age of 40 and has been presented previously to three other McGlinchey Stafford attorneys, Michael D. Ferachi, Errol J. King and Jean-Paul Perrault.

Ms. Grey is an attorney in McGlinchey Stafford's Baton Rouge office. Her practice is concentrated in healthcare law, specifically advising healthcare institutions on licensing, operational and regulatory issues. She speaks and publishes extensively on a variety of medical-legal issues that impact medical providers, healthcare lawyers and community organizations.

Grey is one of the founding members and vice president of Community Partners for Forensic Science, Inc. (CPFS), a nonprofit organization founded in January 2003, with a mission of increasing public awareness and ensuring adequate funding for DNA or forensic testing. This group raises public awareness about rape and has helped make it possible for thousands of unprocessed rape test kits finally to be processed in the state of Louisiana.

Because of her efforts with CPFS, Grey recently accepted on its behalf the highly coveted national Paul M. Chapman award from the Institute for the Foundation of Justice. The honor included a $10,000 award to CPFS.

Another tribute to her civic leadership, the Louisiana State Bar Association presented Grey with its esteemed Crystal Gavel Award, in 2005, which recognizes outstanding lawyers who are considered to be unsung heroes in their communities.

“Emily’s efforts both inside and outside of the firm are remarkable,” said Rudy Aguilar, Managing Partner of McGlinchey Stafford, “it is only fitting that she is being recognized for her ongoing contributions to our community.”

Grey was recognized as a Young Woman of Achievement Nominee in 2004 by the Baton Rouge YWCA. She is an active member of American Health Lawyers Association, the Louisiana Hospital Attorneys Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association.
