Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP Elevates Nine to Partnership
Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP announced today that nine attorneys have been elected to the firm's partnership.

The elevations include four attorneys in Thelen's San Francisco office, three in New York, and two in Hartford. The new partners practice law in the firm's Business and Finance; Commercial Litigation; Construction; Labor and Employment; and Technology, Media, and Communications (TMC) departments.

Rafferty Appointed to Professional Women’s Roundtable Board Positions
Stradley Ronon attorney Julia M. Rafferty was recently appointed secretary of the Professional Women’s Roundtable (PWR) Board of Directors, and named chair of the group’s Board Development Committee. Based in Fort Washington, Pa., PWR is a nonprofit organization that provides networking, leadership, educational and personal growth opportunities to a diverse group of up-and-coming female business leaders in the community.

As a member of Stradley Ronon’s litigation practice group, Rafferty focuses her practice on general litigation, primarily in the area of products liability and mass tort.

PEPPERDINE’S STRAUS INSTITUTE APPOINTS NEIL PECK AS ADVISOR
Neil Peck, of counsel at the Denver office of Snell & Wilmer, has been appointed to the Council of Distinguished Advisors of The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law. The Straus Institute is one of the world’s leading educational programs in the field of dispute resolution. In four of the last five years, the Straus Institute was rated as the leading law school dispute resolution program in the U.S. by U.S. News’ Guide to Graduate Schools.

Peck also serves on the Executive Advisory Committee of the International Institute for Dispute Prevention and Resolution, the country’s leading not-for-profit think tank promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Seasoned Environmental Partner, Randy Visser, Joins Sheppard Mullin Los Angeles
Randolph C. Visser has joined the Los Angeles office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as part of the firm's Construction, Environmental, Real Estate and Land Use Litigation practice group. Visser most recently practiced with Morgan Lewis in Los Angeles.


Visser specializes in environmental regulatory compliance, environmental enforcement defense and administrative and judicial litigation. He has significant experience and expertise in CEQA, NEPA, Proposition 65, and federal, state and local environmental, water and air quality laws, including particularly the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), Regional Clean Air Incentives Market (RECLAIM) Program and other market incentive environmental programs.

"Randy's practice adds depth to our strong environmental and land use groups in Los Angeles," said Guy Halgren, chairman of the firm. "We're very pleased to welcome Randy to the firm. His regulatory knowledge and expertise, particularly related to air quality, is a valuable addition in our ability to serve clients."

Joseph A. Carita Elected to Burlington County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
Parker McCay attorney Joseph A. Carita was recently elected to the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Mr. Carita was installed as a member of the Board at the Chamber’s Installation Dinner last week.
Mr. Carita will serve on the Board for the 2007-2008 term. As a director, he will participate in directing Chamber policy and procedures, approving its budget and spending, overseeing various committees and ensuring the Chamber fulfills its purpose of advancing the general welfare and prosperity of Burlington County. In addition to this new position, Mr. Carita currently serves on the Chamber’s Economic Development Committee.

Mr. Carita’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, commercial law, banking litigation and insurance defense. He is a member of the Burlington County, Camden County and New Jersey State bar associations, the New Jersey Defense Association, and is a founding member of the Central Jersey Claims Association.

Ober|Kaler's Paul Kim Elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation
Paul W. Kim, counsel and member of Ober|Kaler's Health Law practice, has been elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Membership in The Fellows is limited to one third of one percent of all lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction.

According to the selection criteria, Mr. Kim demonstrates "outstanding dedication to the welfare of the community and the tradition of the profession."

Mr. Kim plays an active role in promoting legal professionalism. He is president of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Maryland, and serves on the Health Law Section Steering Committee of the District of Columbia Bar. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Equal Justice Council of the Legal Aid Bureau, American Health Lawyers Association, and the Health Care Compliance Association. He writes and lectures extensively on health care issues.

"Paul's pursuit of excellence to serving clients and his commitment to raising the bar on legal professionalism is exemplary," commented Craig Holden, President and COO of Ober|Kaler. Peter D. Hutcheon Named in Who's Who in America

Hutcheon received his J.D. from Harvard University, cum laude, and his B.A. from Williams College, magna cum laude.
