Fish & Richardson recently received a score of 75 percent in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index (CEI) of 2006. F&R's score was not the highest ranking in Massachusetts, but it was the third highest amongst the companies surveyed.

The 2006 CEI report is the only comprehensive measure of GLBT diversity initiatives. It rates Fortune 500 and other major companies on a scale of 0 to 100 on seven key indicators of fair treatment ranging from health insurance, written non-discriminatory policies covering sexual orientation, diversity training and family leave policies for employees with same-sex partners. There were nearly 500 major U.S. companies surveyed for the report.

Congressional Energy Initiatives to be focus at nanoTX'07
Congress' plans to advance the commercialization of alternative energy sources mirrors the call to action made by the distinguished Energy Summit panel at NanoTX'06, and will be the focus of the NanoTX'07 conference scheduled for October 2007.

The Washington Post reported that the new Democratic Congress has seized the initiative with plans to be unveiled on January 18. The report said the comprehensive package would "plow money into new tax breaks for renewable energy sources" by rolling back "billions of dollars worth of oil drilling incentives" and "boosting federal royalties paid by oil and gas companies."

Last year's "Business of Nanotechnology" Energy Summit at nanoTX'06, hosted by Dr. Alan MacDiarmid, 2000 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and James Von Ehr Distinguished Chair in Science at the University of Texas, Dallas, made an urgent call for new, aggressive collaboration between government, industry and science. The two-day conference included a private networking reception that featured six Nobel Laureates who openly discussed their work and the future of nanotechnology, as well as Governor Rick Perry's announcement that the State of Texas was awarded a Nanoelectronics Research Institute by the U.S. federal government.

Held during International Nanotechnology Week, the Texas Nanotechnology Initiative (TNI) sponsored nanoTX'07 conference and trade expo is October 3-4, 2007. According to TNI President Kelly Kordzik (Austin), "The Promise of Tomorrow-The Business of Nanotechnology" will continue on the theme of last year's successful nanoTX'06.

"There are a lot of people working very hard to make nanoTX'07 the nanotechnology event of the highest quality," says Kordzik.
