Baker & McKenzie Advises Corporate Express on its $50 Million Offmarket Share Buy-Back
Baker & McKenzie has continued its long and successful association with key client Corporate Express, by advising the company on its buy back of up to $50 million of its shares through an off market buy back.

Corporate Express, which is Australia and New Zealand's leading supplier of a wide range of products to the business community, announced the off market buy back on 8 February 2007.

Corporate Express has experienced rapid growth since it listed on the Australian Stock Exchange over ten years ago. The company described its minimal debt and strong cash flows as supporting the buy back, which represents approximately 5 per cent of the company's issued share capital.

Baker & McKenzie Merger and Acquisition partner, Ben McLaughlin, has been advising Corporate Express on the buy back together with senior associate Kate Jefferson. Mr McLaughlin has worked closely with Corporate Express for the last 12 years to assist in implementing the company's organic growth strategy and on going acquisition program.

Mr McLaughlin said: "The buy-back involves a number of innovative features, enabling shareholders to tender their shares for sale to Corporate Express either at various discounts to market, or by setting a minimum price, and subject to other collars and caps. It has been well-received by the market, with marked increases in the company's share price and trading volume.

"As always, the focus and efficiency of the Corporate Express team makes working with them a pleasure.

EIGHT NEWMEYER & DILLION PARTNERS NAMED TO SUPER LAWYERS’ LIST; DILLION RECOGNIZED AS OC “TOP 50”
Earning recognition from their peers, eight attorneys from the Newport Beach headquarters of Newmeyer & Dillion LLP, a prominent business and real estate law firm, have been listed in the “Southern California Super Lawyers” fourth annual peer-review survey, published in the February 2007 issue of Los Angeles Magazine.

Making the list since it was originally published in 2004 were co-founding partners Greg Dillion, a real estate litigator who was again recognized as one of Orange County’s “Top 50 Super Lawyers,” and Tom Newmeyer, a business lawyer, as well as litigation partner John O’Hara. Also named were real estate-transactional partners Mike Cucchissi and Jane Samson, insurance and real estate litigation partner Reed Archambault, and construction litigation partners Joe Ferrentino (previously a “Rising Star”) and Mark Himmelstein.

Southern California Super Lawyers is a compilation of the top 5 percent of attorneys in the area and is produced by Law & Politics, a Minneapolis based trade publication.

“We are proud that our attorneys were again recognized among the best in their profession,” said Dillion. “This is particularly gratifying since the selections were made by other lawyers.”

Women Judges and Attorneys of the Future
History was made on February 20th, 2007, at the Judicial Swearing-In Ceremony at the Tulsa County Bar Association. Renee DeMoss, a GableGotwals shareholder and current President of the Tulsa County Bar Association, presented several new court officials with their ceremonial gavels.

Judge Wilma Palmer became the first African American woman to join the Tulsa District Court Bench. Special Judge Theresa Dreiling and Court Referee Dawn Mary Moody also took the ceremonial oath. This marked the very first time three women have taken the judicial oath during the same ceremony.

As noted by Renee DeMoss during the ceremony, the number of women in the legal profession is increasing, with more women taking positions as judges and shareholders in private law firms.

Other notables attending the event included Tom Colbert, the first African American named to the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Judge David Lewis, the first African American appointed to the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, and Court of Appeals Judges John Reif and Keith Rapp.
