At Phillips Lytle, Mr. Brown concentrates his practice in the area of litigation pertaining to contractual disputes, real property, personal injury, products liability, toxic torts and collection enforcement. He earned a J.D. from University at Buffalo Law School – The State University of New York, a M.B.A. from State University of New York at Binghamton, School of Management and a B.A. from Harpur College at the State University of New York at Binghamton. Mr. Brown is a member of the American, New York State and Erie County Bar Associations and remains active with the University at Buffalo Law School Alumni Association serving on the board of directors and the GOLD Group board of directors.

Gide Loyrette Nouel advised Lagardère Services, formerly Hachette Distribution Services, world leader in travel retail and press distribution, on the sale to Rautakirja of Press Point International, one of the leading international press importers in Russia and the CIS, and HDS CIS, which operates Relay and Inmedio press publication and book stores in Russia. The completion of this transaction is subject to Russian competition authority approval.

Rautakirja, a Finish company specialising in press distribution, press publication stores, cinemas and book stores, is a member of the Finish media group, SanomaWSOY, listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. This transaction will enable Rautakirja, which already has a foothold in Russia, to increase the number of its R-kiosk sales outlets.

Garvey Schubert Barer

Bruce A. King Named to Steering Committee, and as a Seattle Representative, of the Maritime Arbitration Association of the United States
Bruce A. King, an Owner in Garvey Schubert Barer's Seattle office, has been named as a member of the Steering Committee, and as one of two Seattle Representatives, of the Maritime Arbitration Association of the United States.

Mr. King's practice focuses on maritime finance and regulation, and general commercial law. His experience includes a wide range of U.S. and foreign-flag vessel financing, chartering and construction projects. He has extensive experience structuring foreign equity ownership and interests in U.S. flag vessels. While in private law practice Mr. King acted as general maritime counsel to a U.S. flag cruise line.

Mr. King obtained his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School (1979) and his A.B., with honors, from Brown University (1975).

Jana Whitworth Joins Cox Smith Matthews; Firm Expands McAllen Office
Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated today announced longtime Brownsville resident and respected local attorney Jana Smith Whitworth has joined the firm’s McAllen office as part of its nationally renowned Creditors’ Rights, Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy practice area.

Jana, who brings more than 10 years of legal experience to the firm, assists clients with matters related to creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. Most recently she headed up her own firm in Brownsville, where she assisted clients with real estate issues and litigation including condemnation projects for oil/gas pipeline companies, real estate transactions, collection actions and creditors’ rights litigation. She is a native of the Rio Grande Valley with familial ties to both Willacy County and Cameron County for four generations. Prior to attending law school, Jana was a mortgage banker for 10 years.

To accommodate its growing presence in South Texas, Cox Smith Matthews also announced it has expanded its McAllen office and will celebrate the opening of the new offices on September 6, 2007.
