Julie Montgomery leads the Oklahoma City chapter of Association of Legal Administrators to Gold Award
At the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) annual meeting in Las Vegas in May 2007, Julie Montgomery accepted the Presidents’ Award of Excellence for the Oklahoma chapter. The Gold Award is given to a chapter for excellence in chapter management, communications, professional development, recruitment and retention.

Julie Montgomery has been Office Manager in the Oklahoma City office of GableGotwals for over 25 years and is currently serving a second term as the President of the Oklahoma City chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.

The Association of Legal Administrators is composed of legal management administrators from private law firms and corporate legal departments. The association’s mission is “is to improve the quality of management in legal services organizations; promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of legal administrators and all members of the management team; and represent professional legal management and managers to the legal community and to the community at large”.

During Julie’s tenure as president, the OKC chapter participated in the 8th Annual Community Challenge, increased all previous giving efforts, and raised awareness of the organization to the community and provided educational opportunities through six teleseminars, as well as many other beneficial activities to its chapter members.

Petroplus raises $1.8bn with high yield bond and rights issue
Petroplus Finance Limited, a subsidiary of Swiss headquartered European oil refiner Petroplus Holdings AG, this week completed a high yield bond issue totalling $1.2bn and a rights issue of 7.6m registered shares listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange for $631.7m. The proceeds will be used to fund the acquisition of the Coryton oil refinery from BP.

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised Petroplus Holdings on US, Dutch and UK law. The bookrunners for the high yield were Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, UBS Investment Bank and Barclays Capital and for the rights issue were Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley and UBS Investment Bank. Freshfields also advised Petroplus on its corporate reorganisation and $2.4bn IPO in December of last year.

The Freshfields team was led from London by head of the US corporate group Sarah Murphy, assisted by US corporate associates Todd Foy, Diane Marciniak and Katherine Avery.

Cinven sells Klöckner Pentaplast to Blackstone for €1.3bn
European private equity firm Cinven has today announced that it and its minority partner, JPMorgan Partners, LLC (CCMP Capital Advisors, LLC manages their investment) have signed an agreement to sell Klöckner Pentaplast, the world's leading manufacturer of rigid plastic films, to an affiliate of The Blackstone Group for €1.3bn. Cinven was advised by Hengeler Mueller in connection with the disposal and by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in relation to the debt financing matters and general legal advice. Cinven and JPMorgan acquired Klöckner Pentaplast in 2001.

The Freshfields team was led by corporate partner David Sonter and finance partners Christopher Davis and Martin Hutchings, with Düsseldorf corporate partner Anselm Raddatz and London associate Belinda Tucke

Fox Rothschild - Michael Harrington Selected by Philadelphia Business Journal as One of the Region’s "40 Under 40”
Fox Rothschild LLP, celebrating its 100th anniversary this Year, today announced that its Chester County Office Managing Partner and Co-Chair of its Corporate Department, Michael Harrington, has been selected as one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 for 2007. Michael Harrington is both the youngest Office Managing Partner and the youngest Department Co-Chair in Fox Rothschild’s history.

Each year, the 40 Under 40 awards recognize men and women 39 years old or younger who have been committed to excellence and making a difference within their respective industries and communities. Winners are selected by an independent panel of judges.

"I am honored to be counted among such an incredibly talented and impressive group,” said Harrington. “I owe a great deal of gratitude to my parents for instilling in me a strong work ethic and drive to succeed, my wife and children for supporting my efforts every day, my clients for
giving me the opportunity to work with them, and Fox Rothschild for surrounding me with great people and resources. I also appreciate the Journal's Business continued efforts to bring recognition to the rich crop of young entrepreneurs and professionals this region possesses."

Under his new leadership, the Chester County office is experiencing rapid growth, and Harrington continues to build a practice regional, national
and international technology and life sciences companies. He was a founder of Fox Rothschild’s Technology & Venture Finance Group and is recognized as one of the region’s premier technology and life sciences attorneys. In addition, Harrington’s recent appointment as the Co-Chair of Fox Rothschild’s Corporate Department has given Harrington the opportunity to guide the firm’s development of its corporate practices across all 14 of its offices nationwide.

Harrington is involved in numerous business and community service activities. He was recently appointed to the newly created Strategic Advisory
Board of the Eastern Technology Council -- joining a “short list” of technology heavy-hitters. He is a volunteer with several local charities, coaches youth sports, and he frequently lectures on business topics at Villanova University School of Law.

Harrington and his wife Kathleen reside in Upper Uwchlan, PA. They are the proud (and busy!) parents of three young children; Michael, Jr. (6 years old), and Brendan and Alexandra (3-year old Twins).

FagelHaber LLC, Thompson Coburn LLP of St. Louis, Announce Intent to Merge, Creating a Major Presence in Two of the Region's Largest Business Centers
FagelHaber LLC and the St. Louis law firm of Thompson Coburn LLP will merge to create a major presence in two of the region’s largest business centers.

The merger will create a 330-lawyer firm, and give Thompson Coburn a significant presence in the Chicago legal market. FagelHaber and its clients will benefit from having access to a broader range of practice groups.

The merger is the first for Thompson Coburn since the firm merged with the Intellectual Property boutique firm of Howell & Haferkamp in 2001.

Premier Regional Law Firm Expands With Chicago “Jewel”
–St. Louis-based law firm Thompson Coburn LLP and Chicago-based law firm FagelHaber LLC today announced plans to merge, creating one of the Midwest’s leading law firms. The merged firm will have more than 330 attorneys and offices in St. Louis and Chicago, two of the region’s major centers of business, with additional offices in Washington D.C. and southern Illinois. The firms expect to complete the merger later this year.

The merger provides Thompson Coburn with an immediate presence in the thriving Chicago legal market, while enabling FagelHaber, a 40 lawyer firm with deep Chicago roots and a strong client base, to significantly expand its presence throughout the Midwest.

“Thompson Coburn has been looking for a way to enter the Chicago market in a meaningful way, and this merger is a major step forward in our strategic growth plan,” said Tom Minogue, Thompson Coburn’s chairman. “FagelHaber enjoys an excellent reputation in the Chicago legal community and serves a distinguished client list. Joining with FagelHaber will immediately make Thompson Coburn a significant participant in the Chicago legal community.”

Thompson Coburn has a long track record of successful mergers, including the combination in 1996 of two of the St. Louis region’s oldest and most respected law firms, Thompson & Mitchell and Coburn & Croft, and a merger in 2001 with the intellectual property boutique of Howell & Haferkamp. The firm also has served as lead counsel on both the longest jury trial and the largest civil suit in U.S. history. Formed in 1962, Chicago-based FagelHaber serves a diverse local, regional, national and international roster of clients, including major financial services institutions and manufacturing conglomerates.

The two firms recently signed a letter of intent to proceed with the merger, which is expected to be completed this summer. The combined firm’s Chicago office will initially be known as Thompson Coburn Fagel Haber, enabling it to leverage the name recognition that FagelHaber has developed in the Chicago legal and business communities over the last 45 years.

Dickstein Shapiro Named to List of the Top Law Firms For Diversity
