Lipsitz Quoted in CNetNews.com Article on CBS Purchase of Last.fm
Intellectual Property Partner Randy Lipsitz was quoted in an article appearing on CNetNews.com about CBS's purchase of Last.fm, a music social-networking site that uses technology that gives recommendations based on what a user listens to and connects them to other users who have similar results. Lipsitz is quoted as saying that Last.fm appears to operating legally when it comes to copyright - there is no illegal file-sharing or downloads and they are paying royalties for streaming.

Weil Gotshal Advises Richard D. Kinder and his Senior Management Team in Kinder Morgan, Inc. Privatization
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, the international law firm, advised Kinder Morgan (KMI) Chairman and CEO Richard D. Kinder and Kinder Morgan senior management on the acquisition of KMI, which closed today.

Additional investors in the landmark privatization transaction, valued at approximately $23 billion, include other senior members of KMI management, co-founder Bill Morgan, board members Fayez Sarofim and Mike Morgan, and affiliates of Goldman Sachs Capital Partners, American International Group, Inc., The Carlyle Group and Riverstone Holdings LLC.

Mr. Kinder continues as Chairman and CEO following the close of the transaction and has reinvested all of his 24 million KMI shares.

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is one of the largest energy transportation, storage and distribution companies in North America. KMI owns the general partner interest of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P (NYSE: KMP), one of the largest publicly traded pipeline limited partnerships in the United States.

Paul Hastings Advises SIG Asia Investments, LLLP, IDG and Goldman Sachs on US$25 million Investment in Impression Creative Inc.
Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading international law firm, represented SIG Asia Investments, LLLP (SIG), IDG and Goldman Sachs in the US$25 million Series A preferred share investment in Impression Creative Inc. The financing was led by SIG.

McGuireWoods Lawyer Appointed to Board of Trustees of The Leadership Academy for Women of Color Attorneys
McGuireWoods lawyer Curtis L. Mack has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of The Leadership Academy for Women of Color Attorneys, a national organization focused on helping women of color attorneys to develop their careers and manage diversity issues in the workplace.

Among other activities, the Leadership Academy hosts an annual conference to provide participants a dynamic exchange of ideas on advancing a career; developing a legal business; achieving personal and professional satisfaction through work-life balance strategies; and managing workplace diversity issues, as well as one's physical and emotional well-being.

McGuireWoods is a supporter of The Leadership Academy for Women of Color Attorneys. This spring the firm sponsored four law student scholarships for minority women through the Leadership Academy.

Mack, who is based in McGuireWoods’ Atlanta office, is a partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment Department. He has served as lead counsel in numerous labor and employment cases in state and federal courts and negotiated or tried individual termination actions, as well as sexual and racial harassment cases. He has represented clients before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and at public sector hearings. Mack regularly counsels and represents management in the aerospace, automotive, chemical, construction, health care, hospitality, manufacturing, and pulp and paper industries. To date, he has represented more than 30 of the nation's Fortune 100 companies.

Previously regional director of the NLRB in Atlanta, Mack also served as general counsel and as chairman of the Florida Public Employee Relations Commission. He has served as chairman of the Human Relations Commission of the City of Atlanta since 1989 and sits on the boards of both the Atlanta Legal Diversity Consortium and Legal Momentum. He was a law professor at the University of Florida, where he taught labor and employment law and has served as an adjunct professor of labor law at the University of Michigan School of Law and Emory University School of Law. Mack is a member of the Michigan State University College of Social Science Board of Visitors, and has authored and co-authored several law review articles regarding labor and employment.

Among other honors, Mack has been named a Georgia “Super Lawyer,” one of “America’s Top Black Lawyers” by Black Enterprise magazine and “The Lawyer’s Lawyer” by Georgia Trend magazine.

Suzanne M. Meintzer Joins Cozen O’Connor’s Denver Office as Associate
Suzanne M. Meintzer recently joined Cozen O’Connor’s Denver office as an associate in the insurance department. Prior to joining the firm, Meintzer was an associate with McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter LLP in Denver. Meintzer practices in the insurance coverage claims/litigation group, and has experience in all aspects of client counseling and case management, including discovery, trial and settlement. She has participated in complex insurance coverage and defense matters in state and federal courts, and has handled appellate briefings in professional malpractice and adverse possession cases.

A member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, Meintzer is admitted to practice in Colorado and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder (B.A., 1994) and the University of Denver School of Law (J.D., 2005), where she was managing editor of the Denver Journal of Law & Policy and a general editor of the Denver University Law Review. She also received Scholastic Excellence Awards in Family Law and Race and the Law and participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, assisting low-income individuals with income tax filings. Prior to and during law school, Meintzer worked as a professional research assistant and laboratory manager for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
