Rivkin Radler Welcomes New Partner, Barry Levy and 6 New Associates
William M. Savino, Managing Partner of Rivkin Radler LLP, has announced that Barry I. Levy has joined the Firm as a Partner and Ruth Nazarian, Joseph Silver, Sean McAloon, David V. Koenig, Shelly Heffez, and Andrea C. Sacks have joined the Firm as Associates.

"My Partners and I are delighted to welcome this impressive group of lawyers to Rivkin Radler," stated William Savino. "Barry Levy and his team bring tremendous experience in the areas of insurance fraud investigation and litigation, labor and employment related matters and appellate matters. They will be a tremendous asset to us as we diversify our practice areas and grow the Firm."

Barry I. Levy, of Jericho, brings more than 15 years of experience representing insurers in SIU related coverage work and litigation and has provided advice and counseling on claims handling practices for insurers. Levy presently serves as lead counsel or co-counsel in more than a dozen Federal RICO lawsuits brought by major New York insurers to recover claim payments that the insurers were defrauded into making. He has also represented labor unions, trade associations and corporations in labor and employment matters on a variety of issues, including matters before the National Labor Relations Board, the defense of high profile federal employment and labor litigation, and representation of those clients in matters involving defalcation. He has had multiple federal jury trials in the labor/employment area.

The move to Rivkin Radler was the right fit for Levy and his group, "I was looking for the opportunity to join forces with a dynamic group of lawyers with a broad regional and national practice base who shared the same professional goals and values that I do. In Rivkin Radler, I found a Firm which could provide the support necessary to allow my practice to continue to grow and to allow me to devote the time critical to addressing the needs of my clients," stated Barry Levy.

"I had worked with several members of the firm over the past 2 years as outside amicus counsel in two cases before the United States 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. Those experiences demonstrated to me that the level of skill and professionalism at Rivkin Radler were consistent with what I was looking for in a professional home," Levy concluded.

Barry Levy earned his Juris Doctorate from Ohio State University College of Law, where his honors included: Order of the Coif, the University's Trial Team, and services as Executive Editor of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution. Levy received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and Oxford University, Manchester College.

Ruth Nazarian, of New York City, focuses her practice on insurance fraud investigation and defense litigation as well as labor and employment related matters. Prior to joining the firm she also served as in-house counsel to The Robert Plan. Nazarian received her undergraduate degree from Hofstra University and her Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law, where she studied in France under U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antoin Scalia.

Joseph G. Silver's, of New York City practice focuses on insurance fraud investigation and litigation. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, and his Juris Doctorate from St. John's University School of Law.

Sean McAloon, of Brooklyn, focuses his practice on insurance fraud related matters. He received his undergraduate degree from SUNY New Paltz and his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School. McAloon served as the Assistant to the program in Law and Journalism at New York Law School as well as a research assistant to Lis Wiehl, on-air Legal Analyst for Fox News Channel.

David V. Koenig, of New York City specializes in insurance fraud investigation and defense litigation. He received a BA in Literature and a BA in Political Science from Hunter College, City University of New York, where he was a member of the Thomas Hunter Honors Program. Koenig earned his Juris Doctorate from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he was the regional finalist of the ABA Client Counseling Competition in 2002.

Shelly Heffez, of New York City specializes in insurance defense litigation, insurance fraud, and property coverage. She received her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School and earned a BA from Brooklyn College. During law school, Heffez worked for a plaintiff's personal injury law firm that specialized in bodily injury. She is admitted to the New Jersey and New York State Bars.

Andrea C. Sacks, of Great Neck focuses her practice on matters involving personal lines bodily injury insurance defense litigation. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law, and received a BA from SUNY Oswego.

Four Attorneys Join Locke Reynolds LLP
Joshua B. Fleming, James M. Matthews and Jeremy L. Reidy recently joined Locke Reynolds LLP, and Daniel D. Bobilya returns to the firm. Mr. Bobilya practiced in the Indianapolis office of Locke Reynolds until he decided to return to his home town of Fort Wayne. He rejoined Locke Reynolds after the recent opening of their Fort Wayne office. Mr. Fleming and Mr. Matthews will practice in the firm’s Indianapolis office, and Mr. Bobilya and Mr. Reidy will practice in the firm’s Fort Wayne office.

Daniel Bobilya concentrates his practice primarily in commercial litigation. He represents various corporate clients in commercial disputes including, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, commercial collections, shareholder disputes in closely held companies, and related business matters. Mr. Bobilya handles all aspects of these types of disputes, including initial investigations, settlement negotiations, alternative dispute resolution, motion practice, and trial.

Joshua Fleming concentrates his practice in product liability. His experience includes defending clients in litigation involving product liability and premises liability claims, complex and mass toxic tort claims, as well as general commercial claims. Mr. Fleming has experience defending manufacturers of heavy and industrial equipment, motorcycles, commercial ovens, firearms, computers and other products.

James Matthews concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and creditors’ rights, including bankruptcy. His bankruptcy practice includes representations of creditors, debtors and committees in cases under Chapters 7, 11 and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Mr. Matthews’ bankruptcy-related experience includes matters involving relief from stay, use of cash collateral and adequate protection issues, claims analysis and litigation, preferential transfer, fraudulent transfer, and other avoidance actions, and plan confirmation issues in Chapter 11 and 13 cases.

Jeremy Reidy concentrates his practice in business transactions and real estate law. He represents various corporate clients in the banking, retail, and real estate industries. Mr. Reidy handles all aspects of business and real estate transactions, including business acquisitions and formations, intercompany agreements, and real estate acquisitions. Mr. Reidy also advises businesses on planning and structuring for future growth.

Locke Reynolds Partner Re-Elected to the Board of Governors of the 7th Circuit Bar Association
Thomas E. Wheeler was recently re-elected to the Board of Governors of the 7th Circuit Bar Association for another three year term.

The primary goal of the 7th Circuit Bar Association is to work together – as lawyers and judges – to understand and address issues relating to the administration of justice within the Circuit. Membership in the Seventh Circuit Bar Association is open to any lawyer who practices in the federal courts of the 7th Circuit.

Mr. Wheeler has extensive experience in representing schools and other municipal entities throughout the United States in administrative, trial and appellate matters. He has published and spoken extensively on civil rights issues for national organizations as diverse as the National School Boards Association and the American Civil Liberties Union, as well as appearing on National Public Radio.
