Fox Rothschild LLP Announces the Elevation of Six Attorneys to Partnership
Fox Rothschild LLP recently elected six attorneys to its partnership: Thomas A. Cunniff, Esq., of the Princeton office; Loren David Danzis, Esq., of the Bucks County office; Andrew Kaplan, Esq., of the Princeton office; Sheldon K. Rennie, Esq., of the Wilmington office; Todd A. Rodriguez, Esq., of the Chester County office; and Judy McIntire Springer, Esq. of the Philadelphia office. Cunniff’s litigation practice includes general commercial matters, church law, appellate practice, trade secrets, trademarks, and intellectual property, franchise law, and insurance coverage.

Danzis advises established and start-up companies on corporate law issues, including formation, venture capital financing, mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances, licensing, distribution and strategic agreements, executive compensation, and securities compliance. Kaplan’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities, venture capital, technology, residential and commercial real estate matters, and general corporate representation.

Rennie practices in the areas of Delaware corporate and business litigation and creditor’s rights. Experienced in the Delaware Court of Chancery, he provides legal advice on Delaware law regarding corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and general partnerships.

Rodriguez is a regulatory and transactional health care attorney who focuses on fraud and abuse counseling, Medicare Part B reimbursement, physician representation, managed care, corporate and contracting issues. He has extensive experience representing physicians in all aspects of medical practice including practice mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation and drafting, and consulting on operational and business planning issues.

Springer’s practice encompasses family law and domestic relations, including adoptions, annulments, sophisticated and complex divorce and support cases, contentious custody litigation, and relocation. She also works on matters involving protecting grandparents’ rights, including custody issues involving grandchildren, complex protection from abuse cases, in which adult children have committed cruel and violent acts against elderly parents.

Robert Kunold Named Managing Partner
Foster Pepper PLLC announced that Robert Kunold, Jr., Member in the firm’s Business practice group, has been appointed Chair of the firm’s Executive Committee (i.e., Managing Partner). Kunold succeeds J. Tayloe Washburn, who held the position since 2001 and returns to his land use practice full-time.

“I am honored to take over what has been a very successful tenure for Tayloe,” said Kunold. “Foster Pepper is a great firm with strong attorneys and practice areas. I look forward to continuing that strong tradition and working to expand our role in the communities we serve.”

Chairs of the Executive Committee are appointed by elected Committee members for four-year terms. They are responsible for managing the firm, providing direction to the Executive Committee, hiring and supervising attorneys, and overseeing financial management of the firm.

Graduating from Georgetown University Law School, cum laude, in 1994, Kunold’s transactional practice emphasizes mergers and acquisitions, joint venture transactions, aircraft transactions, general business representation and related counseling. He chaired Foster Pepper’s Business Practice Group for several years, and was recently named to the Board of Directors for Special Olympics of Washington. Kunold will continue his M&A practice in addition to his new role.

Davis & Gilbert’s Martin Garbus Joins The Faculty Of “Sports Marketing & Advertising Law
Davis & Gilbert announced today that partner Martin Garbus would be participating as faculty at the American Conference Institute’s, Sports Marketing & Advertising Law conference for corporate counsel. The focus of the conference is how to protect intellectual property in the sports world.

On September 27-28, 2007, at the Warwick Hotel - New York, Mr. Garbus will present a session titled “Protecting IP when Advertising in Connection With the 2008 Beijing Olympics.”

Kappel Joins Blackwell Sanders
Blackwell Sanders welcomes Kris L. Kappel to the Corporate Department. She joins the firm’s Kansas City, Mo., office as an associate and will focus her practice on intellectual property and technology.

Prior to joining Blackwell Sanders, Kappel was an associate in the Kansas City office of a national firm (2005-2007). Her experience includes all aspects of intellectual property acquisition, portfolio management and protection including patent prosecution and evaluation, copyright and trademark registration and licensing. Kappel has represented clients in a variety of mechanical, business method, biochemical and chemical technologies.

She earned her J.D. from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law (2005), where she was an articles editor for Urban Lawyer. She received her B.S. from Kansas State University (1998). Prior to law school Kappel taught high school advanced placement chemistry.
