Joseph W. Russell was recently appointed Trustee of the Northern New York Community Foundation. The Northern New York Community Foundation raises, manages and administers an endowment and collection of funds for the benefit of the community. The Foundation makes grants to support the work of non-profit organizations and provides scholarships to individuals in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.

Mr. Russell is a member of the firm’s Municipal Law, Estate and Trust Planning, Commercial Transactions and Real Estate practice groups and works in the Firm’s Watertown office.

First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative practices in both business and IT. Next, teams of CIO magazine editors and writers reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, the teams met for a day-long meeting to debate the merits of each nominee and vote on the final 100.

Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP, has launched a CleanTech practice to support the rapidly expanding business sector focused on cleaner energy technologies.

CleanTech represents a range of technologies emerging in response to global climate change, energy independence and energy security, including renewable energy, demand reduction, sustainable building and other green technologies, according to Terresa Bakner, who chairs the CleanTech practice.
