Arent Fox Adds Practice Groups and Lawyers to 2007 Chambers Rankings
Arent Fox again achieved a Tier 1 ranking for its Washington real estate practice and a Tier 2 ranking for its national political law practice in the 2007 edition of the Chambers USA guide. In addition, the Washington intellectual property practice and its national international trade practice were recognized in this year’s highly respected legal directory.

The 2007 Chambers USA guide also selected a number of Arent Fox lawyers for its individual rankings. Two real estate attorneys were again designated as “Senior Statesmen,” and nine were rated as Tier 3 or 4 in their individual practice areas. One lawyer is a new addition to the Washington health care rankings, and two jumped from “Up and Coming” in 2006 to Tier 4 in 2007.

Weil Gotshal’s California IP Practice Ranked Number 1 by Chambers USA 2007; Six Attorneys from Weil Gotshal’s Silicon Valley Office Individually Ranked
The Silicon Valley office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP has once again made a prominent showing in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. In its 2007 edition, Chambers USA recognized the Silicon Valley office’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice as a “Band One” practice that “habitually takes on ‘intricate, exciting matters” and the “[t]he group’s ‘dedication to clients’ happiness.’” Chambers USA ranked six Silicon Valley office attorneys individually: Matthew D. Fulbright Alums Garner High Rankings in HBA’s 2007 Questionnaire
U.S. District Court Judges Sim Lake and Gray H. Miller received high percentage scores in the "Overall Rating" category from member attorneys participating in Houston Bar Association’s 2007 Judicial Evaluation Questionnaire. A 78.8% "Outstanding" overall rating resulted from the 316 attorneys ranking Judge Lake, while a score of 59.4% was generated by the 63 attorneys who voted on Judge Miller.

Former Fulbright partners, Judge Lake began serving as a U.S. District Court Judge in September 1988 while Judge Miller’s term on the current court commenced in April 2006.

HBA’s yearly evaluation does not include the rankings for U.S. Fifth Circuit Court Judges

Covington’s Policyholder Coverage Practice Receives Chambers Award for Excellence and Top National Ranking
Covington & Burling LLP was presented last evening with the Chambers Award for Excellence for its 70-member policyholder coverage practice. This is the first time that Chambers USA has issued this award, which singles out one insurance coverage practice in the nation for its notable achievements. During the past 30 years, Covington’s lawyers have been at the forefront assisting policyholders in important coverage matters involving nearly every aspect of insurance. Over this time, the firm has helped clients recover well in excess of $10 billion in insurance proceeds.

In addition to the Award for Excellence, Covington’s policyholder coverage practice received a top national ranking in the recently released 2007 edition of Chambers USA. More of Covington’s policyholder lawyers were ranked by Chambers than any other policyholder firm, including five with national rankings, four of whom received the top national ranking.

Fitch, Even Partner Presents Trade Secret Seminar
Fitch Even Partner Joe Nabor lectured on trade secret law essentials to a group of Chicago area members of the Illinois State Bar Association. The lecture was a component of an ISBA program entitled What Every Lawyer Should Know About Intellectual Property. More than seventy-five lawyers were in attendance, and a lively discussion and question and answers session followed the program.

Mr. Nabor is a frequent speaker at ISBA sponsored events, and has presented on a variety of Intellectual Property topics in the organization’s professional development programs. He will speak again as the Intellectual Property program is conducted in Bloomington, Illinois on June 28.

Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, L.L.P.

Largest Russian Restaurant Chain in $100 Million IPO
Cleary Gottlieb served as Russian, English and U.S. counsel to Rosinter Restaurants in its $100 million Regulation S initial public offering, which closed on June 14. Renaissance Capital acted as sole bookrunner and underwriter for the offering of the shares, which trade on the Russian Trading System Stock Exchange.

The selling shareholder, RIG Restaurants Limited, structured the offering as the sale of secondary shares. Following completion of the offering, RIG subscribed to $60 million in primary shares. Mr. Rostislav Ordovsky-Tanaevsky Blanco, who founded the casual dining business in 1993, remains the ultimate controlling shareholder of the company.

Rosinter operates the largest casual dining business in Russia and the CIS with 192 restaurants, including its locally-famous IL Patio and Planet Sushi brands, and is also T.G.I. Fridays® franchisee in Russia and the CIS.
