WilmerHale Receives Corporate Volunteer Council of Greater Boston Award
the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Greater Boston recognized WilmerHale with its 2007 CVC Award, given annually to one distinguished company, which, by its employees’ volunteer activities, has promoted and strengthened the role of corporate volunteerism in the Greater Boston community. WilmerHale was acknowledged for its outstanding commitment to the promotion of corporate volunteerism through its signature Youth and Education Initiative.

WilmerHale employees volunteer under the firm’s Youth and Education Initiative, which aims to increase the opportunities for success among urban youth through a renewable three-year commitment to nonprofit partner organizations that support young people in the community. Our Boston-based partner organizations for the 2007 through 2009 cycle are Cathedral High School, Citizen Schools, Discovering Justice and Teen Empowerment. The partnership includes charitable giving, in-kind donations, pro bono legal representation and volunteer programming.

Thompson Hine Named One of Best Corporate Law Firms in Cleveland, Six Years Running

The annual survey focuses on 25 major metropolitan areas, identifying the top 20 national corporate law firms and the top five corporate law firms in each market.

Corporate Board Member is a bimonthly publication focusing on corporate governance issues for boards of directors, and is a resource for senior officers and directors of publicly traded corporations, large private companies and Global 1000 firms. National Study Cites Stoel Rives as Top Corporate Law Firm in Portland
For the sixth consecutive year, directors of Portland-area publicly traded companies have named Stoel Rives LLP the city’s best corporate law firm. The news was revealed by Corporate Board Member magazine in the results of its seventh annual Legal Industry Research Study, sponsored by FTI Consulting.

“We’re honored that the Portland business community has recognized Stoel Rives as a leading corporate law firm for the sixth straight year,” says Beth Ugoretz, Stoel Rives’ Managing Partner. “It reflects a high level of confidence in our firm and our lawyers, which we continually strive to earn.”

The annual study by Corporate Board Member and FTI Consulting identifies the top 20 national corporate law firms and the top five corporate law firms in 25 major metropolitan areas throughout the United States. Firms were ranked by directors serving on boards of publicly traded companies listed with the NASDAQ Stock Market, New York Stock Exchange or American Stock Exchange.

“Doing well in our survey has become a singular badge of honor, for the very reason that it doesn’t come from the law firms’ peers,” notes William Rukeyser, editorial director of Corporate Board Member. “It’s an accolade from their customers—the directors, executives and general counsel who hire them, pay their bills, and thrive or suffer from their advice.”

Joseph V. Del Raso, a partner with Pepper Hamilton LLP and head of the firm’s Investment Management Practice Group, has been appointed a member of the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships. Members of the Commission are appointed by the President.

The Commission is composed of approximately 30 citizens who represent a broad range of backgrounds, interests and professions. Each year, the Commission selects a class of White House Fellows from as many as 1,000 applicants for the 11 to 19 fellowships.

During selection weekend, the Commission interviews finalists at a location near Washington, D.C., where members interview, interact with and observe the national finalists. The Commission then recommends those individuals it finds most qualified for the fellowship to the President for appointment as White House Fellows.
