Dykema Volunteers Help Make Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon A Big Success
The 14th Annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon was held on June 9, 2007. A team of Dykema attorneys, staff, and family members were a part of approximately 8,000 volunteers who worked on 50 project sites across Chicago. The volunteers created brighter living and learning environments by painting 573 rooms, 164 hallways & stairwells, 30 maps & murals, 321 doors, and more. They also organized libraries, landscaped parks, planted community gardens, and transformed playgrounds.

Michael C. Borders, Managing Member of the firm’s Chicago office, said, "I am extremely proud of the commitment of the Dykema team who worked so diligently on this project."

"We are fortunate to have so many employees who truly believe that it is our duty to give back to the community in which we work and live," said Jeff Dalebroux, Assistant Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Corporate Finance Practice Group, who led the Dykema effort.

Troutman Sanders Garners Top Rankings in Chambers USA
June 20, 2007 Troutman Sanders and its attorneys have garnered top rankings - including a dozen No. 1 rankings - in Chambers and Partners’ 2007 edition of Chambers USA.

Every year, Chambers and Partners conducts thousands of interviews and surveys with lawyers and their clients, as well as analyzes its own database resources, to determine which law firms and individual attorneys rank the highest based on their strengths and reputations within the legal industry.

In addition to law firms and individual lawyers being ranked numerically, nationally or by specific state, further categories exist in which lawyers can be ranked as exceptional individuals, including Senior Statesman and Up and Coming lawyer.

This year, the firm ranked No. 1 in Energy & Natural Resources, Environment and Transportation. Partners Jonathan Benner, John Daniel, Robert Forry, Kevin Green, John Griffin, John Johnson Jr., Jay Johnston, Mark Newman and Philip Bagley, who recently retired, also ranked No. 1 in several different legal categories (see complete, detailed listing below).

The No. 1 ranking in Energy & Natural Resources is further evidence of Troutman Sanders’ internationally recognized energy practice, which has served the energy industry for 75 years. In 2006, the firm captured the highest ranking among U.S. law firms for service to the utility industry, according to a BTI survey of national clients.

In addition to the dozen No. 1 rankings, the firm ranked in 19 other categories, and had an additional 37 lawyers ranked in numerous practice areas.

Troutman Sanders Ranks High in Legal 500 Litigation Report
Troutman Sanders has been ranked as a leading law firm in corporate litigation in the latest edition of The Legal 500.

Based on interviews and surveys conducted by the Legal 500 staff, the firm was listed as a leading law firm in the United States in product liability and mass tort defense, with an emphasis on pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Praising the firm’s no-nonsense approach to finishing cases quickly and efficiently, one Troutman Sanders client told Legal 500 that “they know how to bring about the endgame – for me, the important thing is not to get a verdict but to get the best result.”

And, reflecting the firm’s rates, one contributor said Troutman Sanders “gives you so much bang for your buck.”

The book also cited the work of Atlanta partner Karen (Kay) Deming, saying her greatest skill is preparation and coordination of litigation strategy. Clients described her as “a wonderful lawyer” and the “top of the heap.”

Clients of Gary Spahn, a partner in Richmond, Va., described him as an attorney who is “very responsive” and “gives good advice.”

Troutman Sanders Among Top Atlanta Law Firms
Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce that it ranks as one of the top three corporate law firms in the Atlanta market, according to the Corporate Board Member/FTI 2007 local ranking survey.

The magazine’s seventh annual survey asked more than 10,000 directors of public corporations to identify law firms in 25 metropolitan areas that they most admired and would want to aid them on general legal matters. For the second year in a row, Troutman Sanders was ranked among the top three firms in the Atlanta area to whom these executive leaders would turn for legal assistance.

The firm is highlighted in the magazine’s current issue “America’s Best Corporate Lawyers,” which is distributed to directors, senior officers, and general counsel of publicly traded corporations in the U.S. and the CEOs of global 1000 companies.

“Doing well in our survey has become a singular badge of honor, for the very reason that it doesn’t come from the law firms’ peers,” said William S. Rukeyser, editorial director of Corporate Board Member. “It’s an accolade from their customers – the directors, executives and general counsel who hire them, pay their bills, and thrive or suffer from their advice.”
