Sedgwick is working collaboratively with Girls Inc., a national non-profit organization that helps girls through high school to be “strong, smart, and bold,” and with Working Wardrobes, a non-profit organization that assists deserving individuals starting new careers with their wardrobes. Working Wardrobes has generously donated $500 worth of career-oriented clothing to our intern, along with hair, makeup and accessory services. The SAGE program’s mission is to introduce girls in Girls Inc. to the opportunities and rewards of a career in the law and inspire girls to pursue higher education. DLA Piper US LLP today announced that 105 of its lawyers have been ranked by their peers and clients as leaders in their respective fields in the newly published fifth annual Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

The publication ranks 105 DLA Piper lawyers in 2007, up from 72 lawyers named in the 2006 edition. Additionally, 14 of the firm’s practice groups are ranked in the top tier, up from 11 in 2006.

“We are proud of the substantial number of lawyers and practice groups that Chambers has recognized this year,” said Francis B. Burch, Jr., Joint Chief Executive Officer of DLA Piper. "Our continued and consistently high Chambers rankings reflect the outstanding talent at the firm and, more importantly, our unwavering commitment to quality and service.”

Chambers rankings are based on extensive research conducted by Chambers and Partners Legal Publishers, a highly respected English publisher of renowned directories assessing and ranking the world’s leading lawyers. Unlike other publishers that allow firms to purchase a mention or ranking, Chambers’ listings are based solely on outside evaluations of merit. Its researchers investigate law firms and lawyers in each U.S. state through an exhaustive process of interviewing clients and competitors in major areas of business law.

In 2007, DLA Piper ranked in the first tier in 14 regional and national areas of practice, including:

The 105 DLA Piper lawyers cited by Chambers are listed below, along with the regions and areas of law for which they were selected. In addition to their selections, several received additional recognition from Chambers ("senior statesman," “star performer,” “one to watch” or "up and coming"), which is noted next to their names.
