Schwartz Cooper Elects Four Associates to Principal
Schwartz Cooper is pleased to announce that four of the firm's Associates have been promoted to Principal. The new Principals, effective July 1, 2007, are Heather Aeschleman (Real Estate), Peter Farah (Corporate), Heather Kramer (Litigation) and Bethany Schols (Litigation).

Heather Aeschleman concentrates her practice in commercial real estate lending, acquisitions and dispositions, and real estate development. She represents institutional lenders in a variety of financing transactions, including construction loans, mezzanine loans, syndicated loans, credit enhancements, for sale housing projects, unsecured lines of credit, condominium conversions and affordable housing loans. Ms. Aeschleman received her B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1998 and her J.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2001.

Peter Farah concentrates his practice in general corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions, hedge fund, private equity and commercial lending work. Mr. Farah has represented a broad range of public and private companies, including multinational corporations, family businesses, private equity and hedge funds, and investment banks. His experience includes public and private securities offerings, fund formations, mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, venture financings, secured financings and new business formation. Mr. Farah received his B.S. from Boston College in 1997 and his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2001.

Heather Kramer concentrates her practice in the area of trial and appellate commercial litigation in both federal and state courts. She has experience with a broad range of issues and conflicts arising out of business relationships, including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, covenants not to compete, employment, business torts, misappropriation of trade secrets, trademark and copyright infringement, and franchising. Prior to joining Schwartz Cooper, Ms. Kramer served as a law clerk to the Honorable Steven M. Colloton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Ms. Kramer received her B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1997 and her J.D. from the University of Texas in 2000.

Bethany Schols concentrates her practice in the representation of financial institutions. She has litigated state and federal court cases involving bank fraud, foreclosure, priority disputes and lender liability. This focus has given her experience that translates well into her practice of counseling property managers, owners and developers in contract and lien disputes, as well as other matters concerning financial issues. Ms. Schols also has international litigation experience. Ms. Schols received her B.S. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1996 and her J.D. from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2001.

Seed IP Law Group PLLC names new partner
Seed IP Law Group has promoted Carol J. Roth to partner. Carol has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical patent field and, prior to joining Seed IP in 2001, was Patent Counsel at Berlex Biosciences, where she procured and maintained Berlex’s patent portfolio.

Walter E. Daniels' practice experience focuses on the business, financial, and intellectual property needs of technology-based companies. He was chairman of Biotech 2001, sponsored by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and the Council for Entrepreneurial Development.

James F. Verdonik's practice experience focuses on business and securities law, including both transactional and counseling work. His transactional work includes public and private securities offerings, venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, and business transactions on behalf of both public and private companies.

Jose Cortina's practice experience focuses on the intellectual property needs of small to large technology and service companies. In addition to having an active patent prosecution and counseling practice, he has drafted and negotiated complex license, joint development/teaming, technical assistance, and other related agreements in a variety of industries.

CBLH Ranks Seventh in the IP Law & Business Patent Litigation Survey in 2007
"IP Law & Business magazine, a leading intellectual property magazine, released its 2007 Patent Litigation Survey in its July issue.

For the last three years, Connolly Bove has been prominently ranked. This year, however, CBLH boasted its highest ranking ever in the total number of plaintiff cases filed.

With 16 reported cases, CBLH ranked 7th in the survey for the total number of plaintiff cases filed. Similarly, the firm ranked 16th for the total number of patent litigation cases filed with 26 cases. Finally, the firm ranked 30th in the number of defense cases filed with a total of ten listed cases.

These rankings include all law firms in the United States. Connolly Bove was uniquely classified as a national firm by the survey. This 2007 survey reaffirms CBLH’s international reputation and preeminence in patent litigation"

Jonathan Wry Joins New York Office
Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced today that attorney Jonathan D. Wry has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office, where he will be a member of Bracewell's Finance practice group.

During his career, Mr. Wry’s work has focused on corporate transactions and the representation of M&A participants in virtually all capacities -- purchasers, sellers, lenders and financial advisors. His clients include real estate investors, private investment/equity firms, insurance companies, commercial banks, and national and international retail and hospitality chains.

“Jonathan’s array of transaction experience is outstanding and we’re pleased to welcome him to our team,” said New York Managing Partner Daniel S. Connolly.

"Bracewell combines a sophisticated financing practice with a remarkable culture," said Wry, "I am delighted to be joining the Bracewell team."

Fifty-three Williams Mullen attorneys have been recognized as Virginia Super Lawyers by Law & Politics Magazine. James V. Meath, was listed among the top 10 Virginia attorneys, as well as Thomas R. Frantz who was listed under the top 50 Virginia attorneys.

Super Lawyers in each state are chosen by a survey of their peers and through publisher Law & Politics' independent research. The annual Virginia Super Lawyers list comprises the top five percent of attorneys in the state.

Mr. Fellner concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and business-related controversies, including partnership, employment and real property disputes. He also has experience in intellectual property disputes, particularly unfair competition and trademark and copyright infringement. He represents clients in arbitration, and in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels in jurisdictions around the country. Mr. Fellner received his J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School in 1991 and his B.B.A., cum laude, from Pace University in 1987. He is a member of the New Jersey and New York bars.
