Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw's Supreme Court & Appellate Practice Named Top Appellate Practice in U.S. by Chambers and Legal 500
Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw's Supreme Court & Appellate Practice Group has just been listed as the top firm for Supreme Court and appellate work by bothChambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2007 andLegal 500 US. Mayer Brown's appellate group stands alone in the top tier in both publications.

Chambers USA characterizes Mayer Brown as "a potent force in matters before the U.S. Supreme Court," noting that the group is "exceptionally strong across the board" and that the "50-strong star-studded group has taken its reputation in appellate matters to great heights." It continues: "The group has built strong foundations in Washington, DC, Texas, and Illinois and the firm has been one of the first to move big-name appellate lawyers into its New York office." According to Chambers, "[c]lients praise the [Mayer Brown] team for its 'quality, reputation and cost-effectiveness,' and appreciate that the attorneys always deliver 'the typical Mayer product. Their work is creative yet credible, very well thought out and very well written.'"

Legal 500 notes that members of the firm's appellate practice "make very frequent appearances before the Supreme Court-indeed they have argued 196 cases there, including nine in the past three most recent terms-as well as hundreds more in appellate courts across the nation." It added that the firm's appellate practice has "genuine national coverage and, in the words of one client, 'a reputation for expertise in appeals.' It is this depth of bench compared to its rivals that marks it out as a rock-solid top-tier player."

Several of the firm's appellate practitioners are recommended by Chambers USA and Legal 500 as "talented practitioners at the highest level, all with a significant amount of Supreme Court experience," including Stephen M. Shapiro and Michele L. Odorizzi in Chicago; Claudia Wilson Frost in Houston; Andrew L. Frey and Lauren Goldman in New York;and Kenneth S. Geller, Andrew J. Pincus, and Evan M. Tager in Washington, D.C.

London-based publisher Chambers and Partners assigned a team of full-time researchers to conduct more than 14,000 lawyer and client interviews throughout the U.S. for its current guide. Legal 500 also relied on an extensive research process, including thousands of interviews with lawyers and clients.
