Levenfeld Pearlstein Establishes First-Ever Diversity Scholarship
The law firm of Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC is pleased to announce the establishment of The Levenfeld Pearlstein Diversity Scholarship, to be awarded to a first-year student of the Chicago-Kent College of Law. The scholarship will be available to a student with financial need, whose personal or family background, life, cultural, or ethnic experience contributes to a more diverse environment at Chicago-Kent and in the legal community.

The Levenfeld Pearlstein Diversity Committee, in conjunction with the Dean of the Chicago-Kent College of Law, will select the finalists and eventual recipient of the scholarship, based on criteria that include financial need, academic accomplishment, work history, community service and extracurricular involvement and leadership.

“We are pleased to establish The Levenfeld Pearlstein Diversity Scholarship in partnership with Chicago-Kent, a school which has long been committed to the education of a diverse legal community,” said Bryan I. Schwartz, chairman of Levenfeld Pearlstein. “It has always been our belief that a diverse legal community benefits everyone involved and we are proud to offer this opportunity to an outstanding student in need.”

Torys LLP

Torys tops the Q2 Canadian M&A charts
Torys ranked among the top six firms for announced and closed Canadian M&A in the Q1–Q2 period of 2007, according to Thomson Financial.

Torys is representing some of the world's M&A powerhouses on 33 deals valued at US$46.8 billion. The total value of Canadian M&A announced in Q1–Q2 2007 was US$185.4 billion, more than two times the US$77.8 billion of deals announced in Q1–Q2 2006.

Thomson Financial also ranked Torys among the top 20 firms in Q1–Q2 2007 for announced and closed M&A transactions in the Asia-Pacific region.

Bloomberg's Q1–Q2 global M&A rankings put Torys among the top five firms for announced Canadian M&A deals, and among the top seven firms for announced Canadian M&A based on volume.

Caile is of counsel focusing primarily on natural resource and water issues.
