Julie C. Skipper Joins McGlinchey Stafford PLLC
McGlinchey Stafford PLLC is pleased to announce the addition of Julie C. Skipper to the firm’s Jackson, Mississippi office. Skipper joins the firm as an associate practicing in the commercial litigation department. Skipper’s practice focuses on class actions, consumer finance matters and business litigation. She has significant experience working to compel arbitration of commercial litigation matters under arbitration clauses.

In addition to her law practice, Skipper is actively involved in several community organizations. She currently serves on the Women's Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson Steering Committee; is the Co-Chair of the Young Women's Committee; and is a member of Jackson Young Lawyers, where she was the Chair of Teen Court Committee for 2006. Skipper is also the Vice Chair of the Young Up-and-Coming Professionals Society and is involved in numerous Millsaps College Alumni organizations.

Skipper earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2004. While in law school, Skipper was an associate justice on the Moot Court Board, a member of the Legal Aid Society, a member of the Women’s Law Students Association and received the K. Harlan Dodson Award. She graduated from Millsaps College in 2001 with her B.A. in Art History summa cum laude, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa; Omicron Delta Kappa; President of Order of Omega; and Philanthropy Chair of Delta Delta Delta. Skipper also served on the Campus Programming Board, received the Art History Paper Award and was a Velma Jernigan Rodgers Scholar.

Latham & Watkins Named Most Innovative US Law Firm in Europe by the Financial Times
Latham & Watkins was recognized as the most innovative US law firm in Europe in the 2007 Financial Times' Innovative Lawyers report. Named the overall winner among US firms in Europe, Latham & Watkins appears at the top of the rankings for being innovative in internal management and strategies. The report states that Latham is "unequivocally recognized for its excellence throughout Europe." It adds: "It exploded into continental Europe in 2001 to great acclaim. It is unapologetically ambitious, yet still maintains one of the most inclusive, transparent cultures in the market." Latham & Watkins was ranked in the "Stand Out" tier in the area of "Legal Expertise." As evidence of Latham's innovative practice, the report cited The Government of Barbados v Trinidad and Tobago case, noting that it has "already set a precedent in the field of public international law." Latham & Watkins was also 'Highly Commended' for its approach to human resources, distinguishing itself as "one of the firms with the most cutting-edge associate development programmes." Overall, Latham & Watkins placed in the Top 10 in the FT Law 50 league table - a ranking of Europe's law firms based on innovation in the profession

Gideon Rothschild -- presented the Distinguished Accredited Estate Planner Award by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils
Gideon Rothschild focuses his practice in the areas of domestic and international estate planning and asset protection, including the use of sophisticated estate planning techniques in the representation of high net worth individuals. Mr. Rothschild is a nationally recognized authority on the use of offshore trusts and estate planning strategies for wealth preservation and succession planning. His clients include professionals, real estate developers and owners, closely-held business owners and directors of publicly-held companies. His practice also includes estate administration and the representation of clients in taxpayer disputes at the federal, state and local levels.

Mr. Rothschild distinguishes himself from many of his peers in that his estate planning recommendations are integrated with asset protection objectives. That is, by educating his clients on the non-tax benefits available with trusts and other vehicles and how they can be drafted in a flexible manner, his clients can achieve both tax savings and wealth preservation. Such benefits include protection from divorce, creditors or litigation exposure.

Mr. Rothschild is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel and is listed as one of America's Leading Lawyers for Wealth Management by Chambers USA. He has also earned the distinction of being included in the 2005 Worth/Robb Report's list of Top 100 Attorneys serving private clients and listed in Best Lawyers in America and New York Super Lawyers. He is the co-author of the BNA Tax Management portfolio on Asset Protection Planning and is a member of the Advisory Boards of BNA's Tax Management and Trusts and Estates.

He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami School of Law and New York Law School Graduate Programs and lectures frequently on asset protection and advanced estate planning strategies to professional groups. Mr. Rothschild is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.

Natasha Wilson Serves as Co-Moderator for DuPont's Minority Counsel Conference and Receives DuPont Volunteer Award
Natasha Wilson recently received the DuPont Volunteer Award at the DuPont's Minority Counsel Conference ("MCC"). This award was given in recognition of Natasha's dedicated time and efforts as Co-Chair of the Minority Counsel Network's ("MCN") Mentoring and Retention Committee. As Co-Chair of the MCN Mentoring and Retention Committee, Natasha helped develop a program, for network firms, to aide in the mentoring and retention of minority attorneys. The program was developed in 2005, presented to the MCC in 2006. And for the past year, Natasha has helped track and monitor participants in the program. Results of the program were presented in a panel discussion at the 2007 MCC where Natasha served as co-moderator

Richard W. Cook Re-elected Managing Partner
Hancock & Estabrook, LLP is pleased to announce that Richard W. Cook has been re-elected by the partnership as Managing Partner of the Firm.

Mr. Cook practices Corporate and Banking Law. Most recently, he represented clients in a transaction resulting in the first ethanol plant in the Northeastern United States. His practice includes mergers and acquisitions, private equity offerings and general corporate matters. Mr. Cook also handles a variety of banking transactions, including asset-based lending, syndicated loans, letters of credit and general commercial matters. He joined Hancock & Estabrook, LLP in 1975, became a Partner in 1981, and served as the head of Firm's Corporate Practice Group from 1996 - 2006. Mr. Cook holds a law degree from the Syracuse University College of Law, and an undergraduate degree from SUNY Brockport. He is a member of the American, New York State, and the Onondaga County Bar Associations, National Association of Bond Lawyers, New York Bankers Association, New York State Economic Development Council, New York State Business Council, Metropolitan Development Association of Syracuse & Central New York, Inc. and the Med Tech Association, Inc. Mr. Cook is a member of the Advisory Board of HSBC Bank USA. He has also been involved in community activities such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Syracuse, the YMCA of Greater Syracuse and the American Heart Association. He has two children and lives in Fayetteville with his wife, Maggie.

Davis Graham & Stubbs Partners Re-Elect Chris Richardson as CEO of the Firm

Richardson has been re-elected by the partners as the firm's Chief Executive Officer for an additional two-year term starting in January 2008. Mr. Richardson has been the CEO of the firm since 2002, leading the firm through a period of exceptional achievement.

Mr. Richardson joined the firm in 1983 as an associate, and was elected as a partner in the firm in 1990. He is a well-known mergers & acquisitions lawyer with a particular emphasis on private equity and leveraged buyout transactions. He also has substantial experience in the creditor rights area,

having represented debtors and creditors in various Chapter 11 proceedings. Mr. Richardson received his J.D. and his master's degree in international studies from the University of Denver in 1983, and is a 1976 magna cum laude graduate of Duke University.

Mark L. Kowalsky Joins Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C.
Mark L. Kowalsky has joined Southfield-based Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C., as a partner in the Firm's Litigation and Securities Practice Groups. Jaffe CEO Richard Zussman made the announcement.

Mr. Kowalsky specializes in litigation with concentrations in commercial disputes and securities law and it routinely involved in handling disputes that involve contracts, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality of trade secret information, employment, shareholders, partnerships, dissolution, real estate, collections and leasing.

Prior to joining Jaffe he served as a partner with Bloomfield Hills-based Hertz Schram PC where he regularly provided advice and representation to regional and national securities firms, public and privately help corporations, and individuals in matters that often involved requests for immediate injunctive relief and the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), incuding arbitration and mediation.

Mr. Kowalsky graduated with high distinction and highest honors from the University of Michigan and is a 1983 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.

A frequent speaker and published author, Mr. Kowalsky also has accepted appointments as an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the National Arbitration Forum. He also serves as a case evaluator for the Oakland County Circuit Court and District Courts.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, Michigan State Bar, Compliance and Legal Division of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, and is Chair of the Greater West Bloomfield Cable Advisory Board.
