Litigation Counsel Ryan Farley Joins Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney in New York
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today that Ryan P. Farley has joined the firm as counsel in its Litigation Section. Previously a senior associate at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP in New York, Farley has wide-ranging substantive experience in auditor liability, securities, intellectual property and antitrust litigation, handling matters for numerous financial institutions, international accounting firms and Fortune 500 companies.

Buchanan's New York managing partner Ellen Shapiro explains, "With his background in representing major financial services firms and Fortune 500 companies, Ryan fits right into Buchanan's existing client base and strategic outlook. We are thrilled to have him on board."

Farley has substantial experience representing clients involved in internal investigations and regulatory proceedings. He has handled matters involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and the National Association of Securities Dealers. He also has counseled clients with respect to electronic discovery matters.

Farley has practiced before state and federal courts throughout the country and has considerable experience with alternative dispute resolution in both domestic and international mediations and arbitrations.

Baker & McKenzie LLP Names New Library Manager for West Coast
Baker & McKenzie LLP announced today that Nina Nguyen was appointed the new Library Manager for the Firm’s Western Service Zone—San Francisco/Palo Alto and San Diego offices. Nguyen, formerly Librarian in the San Francisco/Palo Alto office, has nearly ten years of experience in library and information services. In her new role, Nguyen will be based in San Francisco, California.

"We are delighted to have Nina join our North American Library team, and to lead and support the West Coast libraries. Nina is a well-respected member of the Firm, and in her new role, she will help us enhance our capabilities in providing top quality legal services to our clients in the most efficient and cost-effective way," said Sandra Campbell, Library Director, North America Region.

The North America Library consists of three service zones, comprising multiple office locations. The regionalized library structure enables the Firm to provide improved and enhanced services to our attorneys and our clients, sharing and leveraging information resources and expertise, while reducing overall costs.

Nguyen received her MLS from the Pratt Institute in 2001, and her BS from San Jose State University in 1998. Prior to joining the firm in 2003, Nina worked in library services at Bingham McCutchen in San Francisco.

Baker & McKenzie Elects Nine New Partners Based in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City
Baker & McKenzie announced today the election of nine new partners based in the Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City offices. This brings the total number of partners in the Hong Kong/PRC/Vietnam offices to 66. The election of the new partners is effective from 1 July, 2007.

David Fleming, managing partner of the Hong Kong/PRC/Vietnam offices, commented, “Our partner appointments reflect the continued growth of our practice in specialist areas – corporate, mergers & acquisitions, securities, major projects and real estate - which are some of the key drivers of our business. Each one of the new partner has demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication both to clients and to our Firm. Brief biographies of the nine new partners are set out below.

Jennifer Chen’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and foreign direct investment, with a particular focus on oil & gas and related infrastructure projects in China. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and as an attorney at law in New York. Jennifer is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in the PRC and is based in Beijing.

Pui Hong Chik’s practice focuses on Hong Kong and international securities offerings, including ongoing compliance and regulatory issues. He is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and as a solicitor and barrister in Ontario, Canada. Pui Hong Chik is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in the PRC and is based in Beijing.

Anthony Jacobsen’s practice focuses on Hong Kong securities law, including listings and ongoing compliance matters, and mergers and acquisitions. He is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong. Anthony is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in the PRC and is based in Shanghai.

Susan Kendall’s practice focuses on commercial litigation covering insurance claims, shareholder/corporate disputes, insolvency issues and contentious employment matters. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England and Wales. Susan is based in Hong Kong.

Marco Marazzi’s practice focuses on foreign direct investments, mergers and acquisitions (with particular focus on public companies M&A) and real estate in relation to China. He is admitted as a solicitor in Italy. Marco is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Hong Kong and the PRC and is based in Shanghai.

Nguyen Hoang Kim Oanh’s practice focuses on contract law, mergers & acquisitions, banking & finance, regulatory, securities, compliance and taxation in Vietnam. Oanh is the second Vietnamese national partner in the Firm’s Vietnam offices. Oanh is based in Ho Chi Minh City.

Seck Yee Chung’s practice focuses on foreign investments, mergers & acquisitions, restructuring, venture capital, IT and telecommunications, and real estate. He is admitted as a solicitor in Singapore. Yee Chung is based in Ho Chi Minh City.

Brian Spires’ practice focuses on U.S. and international securities offerings (both equity and debt) and mergers & acquisitions transactions. He is admitted as an attorney at law in the State of Maryland, as a solicitor in England and Wales and as a Foreign Registered Lawyer in Hong Kong. Brian is based in Hong Kong.

Priscilla Yu’s practice focuses on real estate development in Hong Kong including property acquisition, financing and tenancy matters. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong. Priscilla is based in Hong Kong.

Two Business Litigators Join WolfBlock in Boston
WolfBlock has expanded its presence in Boston with the addition of Kevin J. O'Connor as partner and Mayeti Gametchu as counsel in the firm's Business Litigation Practice Group. Both attorneys are formerly of Paragon Law Group LLP.

O'Connor and Gametchu represent clients in the high tech, financial services, communications, retail and manufacturing industries in business and intellectual property disputes and securities investigations. They also represent institutions and high net worth individuals in connection with disputes involving trusts and estates and related fiduciary duties.

"Kevin and Mayeti are both very talented litigators," said Robert Crowe, managing partner of WolfBlock's Boston office. "They have a record of great success, and we look forward to having them on our team to provide the same formidable services to our clients."

Prior to joining WolfBlock, O'Connor was the co-founder and managing partner of the Paragon Law Group, LLP, a boutique business and intellectual property litigation firm in Boston. Before forming Paragon in 2003, he was a partner at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP.

O'Connor is a member of the Boston Bar Association and its Diversity Law Committee and a former member of the Executive Committee of the Boston Lawyer's Group, a privately funded organization dedicated to increasing diversity within Boston's legal community. He is active in pro bono work and has been recognized for his legal work on behalf of indigent tenants by the Massachusetts Tenants organization.

O'Connor is a graduate of Boston College School of Law (J.D., cum laude, Order of the Coif, 1989) and of Trinity College (B.A., 1984).

Gametchu was a partner and co-founder of Paragon Law Group, LLP. Prior to launching Paragon, she was an associate at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She has committed substantial time throughout her legal career to pro bono work, particularly in the area of immigration law, and has been recognized within the legal community for these efforts.

Gametchu is an Independent Trustee of Utopia Funds, a mutual fund complex located in Traverse City, Michigan. She serves as Chairperson of the Nominating and Governance Committee of Utopia Funds. Gametchu is also a trustee of the Leelanau School, a secondary, boarding school located in Glen Arbor, Michigan.

Gametchu received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2000 and her B.A., cum laude, from Williams College in 1997.

WolfBlock Adds Partner to New York Office
WolfBlock is pleased to announce that Stephanie F. Lehman has joined the firm as a partner in the Private Client Services Group in the New York Office.

Lehman focuses her practice on matrimonial law and related tax matters. She provides representation in matrimonial litigation at both the trial and appellate level to high-net worth individuals and also handles contested and uncontested divorce actions; child-related matters such as custody, visitation, relocation and paternity; the negotiation and drafting of pre-nuptial, post-nuptial, settlement and separation agreements; and divorce mediation and collaborative law. Lehman has tried complicated divorce, custody and paternity cases to conclusion and is qualified to counsel clients on such complicated issues as pension and retirement plans, stock options and grants, trusts, limited partnerships and closely held corporations and the valuation of businesses, professional licenses, enhanced earning capacity and celebrity status.

“We are thrilled that Stephanie has joined us,” said Abby Wenzel, managing partner of WolfBlock’s New York office. “Her extensive experience in matrimonial and tax matters is a tremendous asset and bolsters the services that our team here in New York provides to clients.”

Lehman is a member of the Family Law Section of the New York Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association and a member of the New York Collaborative Law Group Membership Committee. She is also a certified mediator in the State of New Jersey.

Lehman is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and the U.S. District Court for New Jersey. She is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School (J.D., 1996) and of Brandeis University (B.A., cum laude, 1993) and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph C. Cassini, III, of the New Jersey Superior Court Family Division.

Largest-ever Indian IPO
White & Case advised leading Indian real estate company DLF Ltd. ("DLF") on its $2.25 billion Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The flotation, which was 3.5 times oversubscribed, is the largest in Indian stock market history and values DLF at approximately $22 billion, nearly twice that of its nearest rival Unitech Ltd., which is valued at approximately $12 billion.

"The Indian real estate market is booming and investor appetite for exposure to it is very strong indeed. India's economy is growing rapidly and the fiscal year ending 2006-07 saw GDP expand by 9.4 percent, its fastest growth in 18 years," commented Francis Fitzherbert-Brockholes, lead White & Case partner advising on the deal. "The Indian capital markets are very active at the moment and we're currently instructing on a number of ongoing mandates for significant Indian corporations looking to access the international equity markets."

The White & Case team advising on the deal was led by partner Francis Fitzherbert-Brockholes, assisted by associate Andrew Clugston.

White & Case has extensive experience in executing complex Indian global capital markets offerings from its London and Singapore offices. Recent transactions include: advising leading Indian television broadcaster NDTV on the issue by its indirect subsidiary, NDTV Networks plc., of a $100 million convertible bond; advising Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan on the $102 million equity offering by Nargarjuna Construction Company Limited; advising Merrill Lynch on the first international equity offering by Indiabulls Financial Services; and advising various investment banks on numerous foreign currency convertible bonds.

LaManna Named New Thompson Hine COO
Frank A. LaManna has accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer at Thompson Hine LLP, where he will be responsible for managing the business operations of the firm. LaManna, who has 20 years of experience in the professional services industry, most recently served as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer at Calfee, Halter & Griswold in Cleveland. He holds a B.B.A. in accounting from Cleveland State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Ohio. He is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
