Four Grogan Graffam Shareholders Named PA Super Lawyers
Grogan Graffam, P.C. announced that Vincent J. Grogan, Dennis A. Watson, Joseph A. Macerelli and Leo G. Daly were named Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for 2007 by Law & Politics and Philadelphia Magazine, an honor awarded to the top 5% of attorneys in the state.

Mr. Grogan, a founding shareholder of the firm, has been a trial attorney for over 40 years and is widely known and respected in commercial litigation matters, real estate law and professional liability defense. Mr. Grogan served as President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1997 and as President of the Allegheny County Bar Association in 1989. He is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. He received his B.A. from Duquesne University in 1957 and his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1960.

Mr. Watson has been President of Grogan Graffam since 1998 and a shareholder in the Litigation practice group since 1983. With 30 years of trial experience, he concentrates his practice in complex commercial, construction, maritime, insurance and product liability litigation. Mr. Watson is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and was recently appointed to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Joint State Government Commission’s Advisory Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution. He is also a Trustee of the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania. Mr. Watson received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1977.

Mr. Macerelli chairs the Professional Liability practice group and has been a member of the firm’s Board of Directors since 1986. He is an experienced trial attorney who concentrates his practice in medical malpractice and other professional liability defense. Mr. Macerelli is President-elect of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and serves as Assistant Treasurer on the board of governors for the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. He is also Chairman of the Board of Canonsburg General Hospital and a director of West Penn Allegheny Health System. Mr. Macerelli received his B.A. from University of Pittsburgh in 1976 and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1981.

Mr. Daly chairs the Litigation practice group and has been on the firm’s Board of Directors since 2000. Mr. Daly’s trial practice includes commercial litigation, product liability, class action work, toxic tort litigation, employment matters and insurance coverage issues. He serves as regional and national counsel for a number of manufacturers and sellers of goods and services. Mr. Daly is a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and a past Chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Civil Litigation Section. He received his law degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1981.

Cozen O’Connor and Select Firm Attorneys Listed in 2007 Chambers USA

Mark J. William J. Winning, resident in Cozen O'Connor’s Philadelphia office, is chair of the firm’s white collar crime and complex criminal defense practice group. He also has significant experience representing clients in a variety of regulatory and government compliance matters. Raymond A. Kresge, resident in the firm’s Philadelphia office, has extensive experience in labor and employment matters, including litigation and counseling on a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including a wide range of employment litigation, such as age, race, sex and disability discrimination/harassment/ retaliation claims under Federal law and State law; claims under ERISA and various other statutes (e.g., FMLA); breach of contract; covenants not to compete; and employment torts. Corporate Attorney Mitchell S. Marder Joins Seyfarth Shaw in Washington, D.C.
Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full service law firms, announced that Mitchell S. Marder, General Counsel for CytImmune Sciences, Inc., has joined Seyfarth Shaw as of counsel in its Corporate and Finance Group. He is resident in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. As General Counsel at CytImmune, Marder was formerly of counsel with Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. Marder will split his time between his CytImmune duties and his work with Seyfarth Shaw. Robert Tyler, also formerly with Katten Muchin, joins him as associate.

Marder’s practice is focused on the representation of emerging growth companies, ranging from start-up to publicly-held and venture capital firms. He has advised companies in many high tech related industries, including (with special emphasis) biotechnology and life sciences, telecommunications, renewable energy and enterprise software solutions. He has experience in a variety of public and private (debt and equity, including Rule 144A) transactions, merger and acquisition (buy and sell side) activities and strategic transactions, including joint ventures. He also has experience in representing domestic and foreign financial institutions and equipment vendors as lenders, arrangers or agents and companies as borrowers or issuers in the origination and work - out of secured and unsecured financings (including, high yield debt, credit facilities, equipment leases and project finance).

Tyler focuses his practice on emerging companies, representing privately held companies and venture funds in various matters, including general corporate law, corporate governance and debt and equity financings. He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions.

DLA Piper advises RSM Robson Rhodes on merger with Grant Thornton
DLA Piper has advised RSM Robson Rhodes LLP ("RSM Robson Rhodes") on its merger with Grant Thornton UK LLP ("Grant Thornton"). The deal creates one of the largest accounting and business advisory groups in the UK based on fee income (approximately £387 million), with more than 300 partners and 4,400 staff, operating from 33 locations.

The new organisation is operating as Grant Thornton UK LLP.

The DLA Piper team was led by partner and UK Head of Corporate David Raff, assisted by Corporate associates David Gerber and Chris Baird; Real Estate associate Jonathan Humble; and Pensions associate Tamara Calvert.

David Raff commented: "It was a great pleasure to advise on a transaction where we have excellent, long-established relationships with both parties. The expertise and experience we gained in handling DLA Piper's own mergers to create a premier upper mid-market law firm, meant that we were perfectly suited to advising on the creation of a significant alternative to the big four accountancy practices."

Michael Frank Joins Morrison & Foerster's Executive Compensation Practice
Morrison & Foerster LLP announced that Michael T. Frank, a leading tax practitioner, has joined the firm as a partner in its Palo Alto office. Mr. Frank has advised on the executive compensation and related aspects of more than 150 domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, and spin-offs.

Mr. Frank’s addition is in direct response to Morrison & Foerster’s expanding client demands. “With the latest SEC, IRS, and other regulations such as Section 409A dramatically changing the terrain of executive compensation and employee benefit plans and their value in a corporate transaction, we need to add more top-caliber talent to respond to our clients’ needs,” explained Robert Townsend, Chair of the firm’s international Corporate Group. “We are responding to our clients’ needs by creating a holistic team that fully merges our tax, employee benefit, labor and corporate expertise. Mr. Frank joins the firm from DLA Piper, where he was a partner in that firm’s Palo Alto office. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1995.

Miller Canfield Announces New Director of Human Resources
The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that Elizabeth K. Needleman, SPHR, CCP, CBP, has joined the firm as director of human resources. Needleman will reside in the firm’s headquarters in Detroit. She replaces William J. Parsons, who is retiring after 28 years with Miller Canfield.

Needleman is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, the Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit, WorldatWork, and the national and local chapters of the Association of Legal Administrators.

Prior to joining Miller Canfield, she was human resources director at the Pierce Atwood LLP law firm in Portland, Maine, one of New England’s largest law firms.

She received a Master of Public Administration, specializing in Personnel Administration, from George Washington University, and her B.A. from the University of Vermont.

She resides in Plymouth, Mich.

The law firm of Miller Canfield was established in Detroit in 1852 and employs more than 800 in offices in Michigan, Massachusetts, Florida, New York, Canada and Poland.
