Okada Named Firmwide Hiring Partner
Baker Hostetler is pleased to announce that partner Ronald S. Okada, Coordinator of the Cleveland Office Litigation Practice Group and a member of the Firm's Policy Committee, has been appointed Firmwide Hiring Partner effective July 1, 2007.

In his new role, Okada will work to achieve firmwide goals by strengthening the effective coordination of a national recruiting program among Baker Hostetler's 10 offices, while preserving the individual needs and unique identities of each in their respective markets.

"The competition among law firms to attract the 'best and the brightest' has never been more intense," said Okada. "I look forward to the challenge of continuing Baker Hostetler's tradition of recruiting and retaining the best candidates from top-tier law schools across the country."

"We are very pleased that Ron has accepted the position of Firmwide Hiring Partner," said Alec Wightman, who serves with Steven Kestner as Executive Partners of the firm. "Having been actively involved in recruiting for the firm previously, at the law school and lateral levels, Ron has both the experience and perspective needed to effectively manage the recruiting program and his appointment reinforces our continued commitment to recruiting and retaining talented, diverse lawyers who share the firm's ideals of mutual respect, support and collaboration."

Corporate Board Member Ranks BH a Top Five Firm
Baker Hostetler was recently listed in Corporate Board Member magazine's annual survey of top corporate law firms, with the firm's Cleveland and Columbus offices identified as a top five firm in those cities. The magazine's methodology precludes the firm from being a candidate for national consideration. The results of this seventh annual survey of CEOs and directors of publicly traded companies appears in the July/August issue of Corporate Board Member and on its website.

In Cleveland, the firm remained in second place this year and in Columbus, the firm moved from five to four in the rankings. The city rankings are based on individual surveys for each market, with directors living in these areas receiving a questionnaire specific to their location which included a list of 20 local firms and two write-in options.

According to William S. Rukeyser, editorial director of Corporate Board Member, "Doing well in our survey has become a singular badge of honor, for the very reason that it doesn't come from the law firms' peers. It's an accolade from their customers—the directors, executives and general counsel who hire them, pay their bills, and thrive or suffer from their advice."
