Herman (Bubba) Gesser, Former Chief Counsel and Projects Director Senator Mary Landrieu, Joins Jones Walker's Baton Rouge Office
The law firm of Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrère & Denègre L.L.P., is pleased to announce that Herman (Bubba) Gesser, III, has joined the firm’s Real Estate and Government Relations Practice Groups.

For the past nine years, Gesser served as Senator Mary Landrieu’s chief counsel and projects director in Washington, D.C.
In that capacity, he researched, drafted, and provided advice and counsel on legislation primarily relating to water, transportation, and appropriations matters. He worked closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on many issues, including coastal restoration in Louisiana, and assisted state and local leaders with project funding and environmental and regulatory matters before various federal agencies. Prior to working for Senator Landrieu, Gesser practiced law as an associate with a large New Orleans law firm. His practice focused on design and construction legal matters. Gesser is also a licensed architect and practiced with his father’s architecture firm in New Iberia before attending law school.

“Bubba will immediately add value to both our real estate and government relations practices. His experience as an attorney and an architect make him particularly wellsuited to assisting clients of our burgeoning real estate development practice,” said Bill Hines, managing partner of the firm. “Moreover, his deep personal knowledge of the United States Senate and the federal government brings additional strength and depth to our ongoing efforts to assist clients from all across Louisiana in their post-Katrina and Rita recovery.”

“Bubba leaves Senator Mary Landrieu’s office with an impeccable reputation for honesty and integrity,” commented Rob Scheffy, head of the firm’s Real Estate practice. “He had many options when he decided to return to Louisiana and we are
indeed fortunate that he has decided to join us. Bubba was of great assistance to Louisiana while he worked in the Senate and we are pleased that he will continue much of that work with us here at Jones Walker.”

Gesser holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Louisiana State University, a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, a J.D. degree from Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, and anticipates receiving an LL.M. in Government Contracts from The George Washington University Law School on completion of a master’s thesis.
