Donald Hall and James Brindell made the list, as well, in the areas of estate and zoning/land use, coming in at two and three respectively, while Rick Burgess was named in Chambers’ list of top environmental attorneys at number two. PHOENIX - Corporate Directors name Snell & Wilmer Best Law Firm in Phoenix Firm Receives Honor for Sixth Consecutive Year
Company directors and in-house legal counsel voted Snell & Wilmer the number one law firm to do business with in Phoenix for the sixth consecutive year. The annual Legal Industry Research Study is conducted by Corporate Board Member magazine, a national publication that covers corporate governance and boardroom issues
.
“This honor from Corporate Board Member magazine for the sixth consecutive year speaks volumes regarding the work we are doing in Phoenix,” said John Bouma, chairman of Snell & Wilmer. “Snell & Wilmer strives to address our clients’ needs with practical solutions built upon high-quality, ethical legal advice and guidance. To be recognized by leaders in the Phoenix business community is a strong indication that businesses in the area continue to value the legal services we provide.” Corporate Board Member magazine based its findings on a poll of directors serving on boards of publicly traded companies listed with the New York and American Stock Exchanges and the NASDAQ Stock Market. The magazine’s July/August issue ranks law firms in 25 major metropolitan areas, including Phoenix, and identifies the top 20 national law firms.

“Doing well in our survey has become a singular badge of honor, for the very reason that it doesn’t come from the law firms’ peers,” said William S. Rukeyser, editorial director of Corporate Board Member. “It’s an accolade from their customers—the directors, executives, and general counsel who hire them, pay their bills, and thrive or suffer from their advice.”

Attorneys Examine Property Law in Kuwait
Despite Kuwait being the first Arab country in the Gulf to have an elected parliament and having granted full political rights to women in 2005, the country still lags behind some of its Arab neighbors when it comes to real property law.

Currently, non-Kuwaiti citizens, with the exception of certain other Arab citizens, cannot own real property in Kuwait including land, fixtures, vegetation or anything which cannot be moved from one place to another with its shape remaining the same.

In a recent issue of The Brief, Bryan Cave LLP Kuwait office Managing Partner David Pfeiffer and Kuwait Legal Advisor Ola Saab explore and explain how the Kuwaiti government is coming to the realization that the country needs to reform its current property laws, aspects of which are affected by Sharia inheritance law, to encourage foreign investment in order to shore up the static real estate market. The two also examine the impact such changes could have on Kuwait’s economy in general.
