Vedder Price Ranked Second Among Bank and Thrift Legal Advisers
Vedder Price was ranked second among bank and thrift legal advisers by SNL for the second quarter of 2007. Rankings are compiled based on the total of announced deal values, with Vedder Price totaling approximately $23 billion.

According to SNL’s data, the Midwest and the Southeast saw the most bank and thrift-related M&A activity for the second quarter in a row. Of the total 62 deals reported for the second quarter, 19 or approximately 31%, were in the Midwest.

SULLIVAN & CROMWELL LLP once again took the top spot in announced deals in the first half of 2007, according to data compiled from Bloomberg, Dealogic and Thomson Financial. The Firm ranked #1 advising principals, and advising principals and financial advisors combined in both the global and U.S. markets. The Firm also took the lead by advising on 6 of the 10 largest global announced deals ranked by total value. S&C also ranked as the top U.S. firm in European M&A advising principals, and principals and financial advisors combined, as well as in Asia-Pacific M&A advising principals and financial advisors combined. In Latin American M&A, the Firm ranked #1 advising principals and financial advisors combined.

Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP

Morris, Manning & Martin Advises Stratature in Acquisition by Microsoft
Morris, Manning & Martin partner Ed Hirsch and associates Steve Combs and Amanda McHugh advised Stratature Inc., a leading provider of Master Data Management software products, in its recent acquisition by Microsoft. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The deal makes Stratature a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microsoft. A Microsoft spokesman says the firm ultimately plans to integrate Stratature’s products line with its own.

Stratature is based in Atlanta, Georgia with sales representatives located in the UK and Canada. It will relocate its headquarters to Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Washington.

Fenwick & West Ranked as #3 Most Diverse U.S. Law Firm
Fenwick & West, a premier law firm providing comprehensive legal services to high technology and life sciences clients, was recently honored in the Minority Law Journal's Diversity Scorecard. The scorecard recognized Fenwick & West as one of the top five most diverse large law firms in the U.S. for 2006.

The Minority Law Journal used data collected from 240 of the largest U.S. law firms to calculate the percentages of ethnic minority attorneys at each firm. For the first time, this year's scorecard also included the percentages of minority attorneys who had been promoted to partner.

Fenwick & West earned its third-place ranking with 56 ethnic minority attorneys out of 250 attorneys (22.5%) belonging to an ethnic minority. Twenty-four percent of its new partners are minority attorneys.
