Lawrence S. Chane Elected President of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council
"Blank Rome partner and practice group leader of its private client group Lawrence S. Chane has been elected president of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council (PEPC). In this capacity, Mr. Chane will lead the PEPC’s 21-member board for a one-year term, assuming his position on August 1, 2007.

“We are pleased that Larry has been elected to lead the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, and congratulate him on this accomplishment,” said Carl M. Buchholz, Blank Rome managing partner and chief executive officer. “We are confident that Larry’s unique and extensive experience in estate planning and commitment to his work will serve as a tremendous asset to the Council.”

Mr. Chane has held a number of leadership positions with the PEPC, including serving as secretary, treasurer, and most recently, as vice-president. The Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, one of the oldest and largest estate planning councils in the United States, is a highly recognized organization dedicated to advocating and assisting in the spreading of knowledge concerning estate planning and fostering cooperation among the various professionals that are part of the estate planning process.

“Larry has proven himself a leader in estate planning, and has gained the respect of his colleagues and estate planning professionals within the industry,” remarked Michael A. Bonventure, outgoing president and principal at Morris J. Cohen & Co., P.C. “I'm confident that Larry's leadership skills, coupled with his energy and experience, will enable him to effectively guide the PEPC.”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to take on such an important leadership position within this distinguished organization,” said Lawrence S. Chane. “Through my involvement in the Council over the past ten years I have come to realize that its strength is in its members, and I look forward to working together to help advance the field of estate planning.”

As leader of Blank Rome’s private client group, Mr. Chane concentrates his practice in the areas of income tax and estate planning, advising clients on federal, state and local tax issues. He is also an adjunct professor in the Graduate Tax Program at Villanova University School of Law. He has appeared on CNBC, and has been quoted in numerous publications, including TIME and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. In addition, he was recently profiled in Inside Magazine for his dedication to the practice of law.

Mr. Chane is actively involved in several community organizations, including serving as vice president of the Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education and as secretary of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Endowments Corporation. Mr. Chane also serves as chair of the Jewish Federation’s Estate Planners’ Advisory Committee in Philadelphia.

Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida, Mr. Chane received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law and his master's of law from Temple University Beasley School of Law. Mr. Chane also holds a bachelor of science, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania."

Jonathan M. Korn Appointed to Board of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Southern New Jersey
"Blank Rome partner Jonathan M. Korn has been appointed to serve on the board of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Southern New Jersey (JCRC) for a three-year term. In this role, Mr. Korn will strive to represent the interests of the Southern New Jersey Jewish community and assist the JCRC as it fulfills its mission to educate the community at large and build consensus on behalf of Israel, the Jewish people, and Jewish concerns in an effort to combat anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism and promote Jewish values.

The JCRC is the human relations, public policy, and social advocacy agency of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey. The Council shares values and principles with its members; and the Jewish religious, social welfare, fraternal organizations, and congregations of the tri-county area of Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester counties.

At Blank Rome, Mr. Korn concentrates his practice in the areas of intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, advising clients on laws concerning trademark and patent infringement, trade secret and restrictive covenants, commercial disputes involving breach of contract and fraud, construction, and real estate litigation.

Mr. Korn serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Attorney Advertising, and is chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Legal Education Committee. He is a fellow of the American Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section and serves as co-chair of the Subcommittee on Restrictive Covenants, Unfair Competition and Tortious Interference with Contracts. Mr. Korn is a trustee for the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and the Camden County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Inc., and serves on the Advisory Board of the Civil War and Underground Railroad Museum of Philadelphia. He is also a member of the Employer Legislative Committee of Camden County.

Mr. Korn graduated with a bachelor of arts in public policy and political science, cum laude, from Duke University and received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law."

Addition Expands Firm’s Multi-State Tax Practice
"Blank Rome is pleased to announce R. Todd Faciana has joined the Firm as an associate in the business tax group. Mr. Faciana brings considerable experience in federal and multi-state tax law, and will be based in Blank Rome’s Philadelphia office.

Mr. Faciana is an attorney and a certified public accountant who joins Blank Rome most recently from Deloitte Tax LLP, where he specialized in state tax controversy matters. Prior to his work with Deloitte Tax LLP, Mr. Faciana interned with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Tax Litigation Section where, among other things, he participated in negotiations for settlement of tax between the Commonwealth and taxpayer counsel. During his internship, Mr. Faciana co-authored a winning Commonwealth Court brief in Allfirst v. Commonwealth and was published in the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Tax Newsletter.

Mr. Faciana also previously worked as an associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he served as a multi-state tax specialist for the firm’s Los Angeles office. In addition, Mr. Faciana taught and mentored accounting professionals on multi-state taxation.

Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Mr. Faciana received his law degree from Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law and his bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in accountancy from California State University, Long Beach."

Alfrado D. Donelson Joins Adams and Reese LLP
"Adams and Reese is pleased to announce that Alfrado D. Donelson has joined the firm’s Jackson office as a member of the Banking and Finance and Corporate Practice Teams in the Transaction and Corporate Advisory Services Practice Group.

Donelson has more than 20 years of national and international complex commercial transactional experience. Prior to joining Adams and Reese, he served as Vice President and General Counsel for GE Capital Solutions—Global Electronics Services, Inc. (GES). In this capacity he handled all legal matters for GES, and had a lead role in negotiating and structuring all major transactions. Donelson’s experience includes foreign and domestic equipment financing, operating and capital leases, sale leasebacks, trade term financing, syndications and loans among other things. He has also managed outside counsel in the US and foreign jurisdictions throughout Asia and Europe. Donelson spent 13 years in private practice in New York prior to joining GE.

In 1979, Donelson earned his Bachelor of Science degree of from Cornell University where he was involved in athletics and was a member of the Minority Finance Commission and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1984 and was a member of the American Criminal Law Review."

Willman & Arnold Prevails as Superior Court Affirms Judgment Non Pros for Subaru of America, Inc., and Budd Baer, Inc.
In a memorandum opinion dated July 12, the Pennsylvania Superior Court affirms judgment non pros granted in favor of Subaru of America, Inc., and Budd Baer, Inc., both represented by Glenn A. Huetter, Jr., of Willman & Arnold LLP, on all plaintiff’s claims involving the purchase of a 1992 Subaru Legacy. The Court found McClure’s failure to comply with Pa.R.C.P. 3051, which is mandatory, constituted a waiver of all issues on appeal, and it affirmed the judgment entered by Judge Katherine Emery of the Court of Common Pleas of Washington County.

Nancy J. Victory to Be Inducted into The Minority Media & Telecommunications Council Hall of Fame
Wiley Rein partner Nancy J. Victory has been selected for induction into The Minority Media & Telecommunications Council (MMTC) Hall of Fame, an honor that recognizes her “exceptional contributions over many years to diversity and inclusion in the media and telecom industries.” The award will be presented at a reception to be held during MMTC’s 2007 Access Capital and Telecommunications Policy Conference, July 16, 2007, in Washington, DC.

Ms. Victory, whose distinguished career spans the public and private sectors, leads the firm’s International Telecommunications Practice. She chairs the FCC Advisory Committee for the 2007 World Radiocommunication Conference, and recently served as the chair of the FCC Independent Panel Reviewing the Impact of Hurricane Katrina on Communications Networks.
