Philip C. Eschels elected a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers
Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC has announced that Philip C. Eschels, a Member in the firm’s Louisville office, has been elected a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. The Fellows of the College are dedicated to the study and enhancement of professional ethics in the practice of labor and employment law and to the improvement of the delivery and quality of labor and employment legal services. Eschels is the only Kentucky attorney elected to the class of 2007.

Eschels is a member of the Labor and Employment Practice Group, and the Covenant Not-to-Compete and Trade Secrets Team Chair. He represents employers in defending against employment-related claims in both federal and state courts. He represents clients involving covenants not-to-compete and the protection of trade secrets. Eschels also counsels employers and trains management personnel concerning a wide range of employment-related topics including harassment, how to prevent discrimination lawsuits and how to minimize potential liability when hiring, disciplining and firing employees.

In addition to his other civic involvement, Eschels currently serves as Immediate Past President of the Board of Directors of Actors Theatre of Louisville. He received an undergraduate degree from Concordia College, a master’s degree from Ball State University, and a J.D. degree, with honors, from Indiana University School of Law.

The News Journal, Delaware’s leading daily newspaper, published its annual Best in the Business Survey on Sunday, July 29, 2007 where CBLH ranked 11th of 53 companies our size in the state.

CHESTER WILLCOX & SAXBE ATTORNEY ELECTED SECRETARY/TREASURER OF THE COLUMBUS BAR ASSOCIATION
The law firm of Chester Willcox & Saxbe, LLP (CWS) today announced that Elizabeth J. Watters has been elected to serve a one-year term as secretary/treasurer for the Columbus Bar Association (CBA). She will be sworn in during the CBA Annual Meeting on June 8.

Watters, a partner at the firm, practices in the areas of civil litigation, employment law, creditor issues, consumer protection, and structured settlement/lottery transfers at CWS. She has been a member of the CBA since joining CWS in 1994, and has served on the CBA Board of Governors since 2003. It is expected that Watters will be the uncontested candidate for President-elect of the CBA in 2008 and President in 2009.

The CBA strives to be the leader in providing excellent, innovative and cost effective services to members of the legal profession and the general public in central Ohio. CHESTER, WILLCOX & SAXBE ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNER:
The law firm of Chester Willcox & Saxbe, LLP today announced that Kenneth A. Fisher, Jr. has been named a partner in the firm.

Fisher’s practice focuses on representing owners, contractors, and design professionals in the negotiation of construction-related contracts and the resolution of construction-related disputes. Fisher is a Registered Architect.

Fisher graduated from Capital University Law School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University.

CHESTER WILLCOX & SAXBE ATTORNEY APPOINTED TO STATEWIDE JUDICIAL PANEL
The law firm of Chester Willcox & Saxbe, LLP (CWS) today announced that Janica A. Pierce has been appointed by Governor Ted Strickland to serve on a second Ohio Judicial Appointments Recommendations Panel (OJARP). As one of five at-large panel members, Pierce will serve a renewable two-year term, which commenced on June 6, 2007.

Pierce practices in the areas of civil trial and appellate litigation at CWS. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee and received her law degree from The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law.

The purpose of the panel is to assist in selection of Ohio Judges. Each time there is a judicial vacancy, the five at-large panel members from across the state are joined by six local panel members to form a group of eleven citizens who review applications and interview applicants before providing their top three recommendations to the governor. The additional panel was added to reduce the workload of the original at-large members panel.

SEC Attorney Joins Bell Boyd
Eric S. Purple, formerly a Senior Counsel at the Securities and Exchange Commission, has joined Bell, Boyd & Lloyd as a partner in the firm's Investment Management and Financial Markets Group residing in the Washington, D. C. office.

Mr. Purple served with the SEC's Division of Investment Management for eight years, including six years as Senior Counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel. In that role, he gained significant experience advising the Commission's staff, providing guidance to members of the bar and the general public, and providing technical assistance to foreign securities regulators on complex issues arising under the Investment Company and Investment Advisers Acts, the acts that define the regulatory environment under which investment companies and investment advisers must operate. He was particularly noted for his knowledge of business development company issues affected by the Investment Company Act.

Before joining the SEC, Mr. Purple was the Compliance Officer for the Rydex Funds, at the time a $8.5 billion mutual fund complex. He also worked as legal counsel to Financial Passport Inc., an Internet financial services start-up subsequently acquired by Ameritrade Holdings, a predecessor to TD Ameritrade.

Mr. Purple has been a frequent speaker on investment company topics at international forums for securities regulators and small businesses. He received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, his J. D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and an LL.M. in securities and financial regulation from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Bell Boyd's Investment Management and Financial Markets Group serves as counsel to more than 500 open-end and closed-end mutual funds or their boards with combined assets of more than $500 billion.
