WENDEL ROSEN ADDS TWO BUSINESS AND REAL ESTATE PARTNERS; ALSO WELCOMES SENIOR REAL ESTATE COUNSEL
Oakland law firm Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP announces that Thomas Palmer and Matthew Dambrov have joined as partners in the business and real estate groups and Rebecca Powlan has joined as senior counsel of the firm’s real estate group. Palmer and Dambrov come to Wendel Rosen from the East Bay law firm of Robbins Palmer & Allen LLP, where they were both partners. Previously, Powlan served as senior counsel with real estate law firm Cassidy Shimko Dawson & Kawakami in San Francisco.

“We are pleased to join a top tier law firm that serves the business and real estate community with depth of resources and a 360 degree understanding of the law in each of the firm’s practice disciplines,” said Palmer, a 40-year private practice veteran. “Matt and I have the highest regard for the firm. Palmer’s decades of legal work are rooted in the East Bay. His practice consists of corporate and business counseling and transactional work for a wide range of manufacturing and distribution businesses in the consumer and wholesale garden and pet product and wholesale nursery industries, as well as media advertising, security and fire protection service providers and consulting engineers. He also has significant experience in real property transactions. Palmer received his L.L.B. from the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law (1966) and his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley (1963).

Dambrov has a diverse general business transactional practice emphasizing corporate counseling, including entity formation, finance, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, manufacturing and distribution, secured transactions, general business matters, and real property purchasing, sales and leasing. An avid cyclist, Dambrov is a member of the International Mountain Biking Association and the Bicycle Trails Councils of East Bay and Marin. He received his J.D. from the New England School of Law (1996) and his B.A. from the University of Connecticut (1991).

Powlan’s practice focuses on all aspects of commercial leasing, real property purchases and dispositions, development, and shopping center operations. She is a frequent speaker for the International Council of Shopping Center and has presented at the group’s annual Law Conference. Powlan received her J.D. from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (1986) and her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1982).

Scott & Hulse Attorneys Participate in TADC Summer Seminar
Chantel Crews and Jeffrey Alley, shareholders with the law firm of Scott, Hulse, Marshall, Feuille, Finger & Thurmond, P.C., recently participated in the Texas Association of Defense Counsel’s 2006 Summer Seminar, held on July 12 - July 15, 2006, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ms. Crews served as the Meeting Chairman, and Mr. Alley presented the topic entitled “Jury Selection in the 21st Century.” Ms. Crews is a graduate of Texas Tech University School of Law and practices in the firm’s General Liability and Insurance Litigation Section. She serves as Director at Large for the Texas Association of Defense Counsel Board of Directors, is the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the El Paso Bar Association, is a director for the El Paso Young Lawyers Association, and is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the El Paso Division of the American Heart Association. Crews has been named a “Texas Rising Star” by Texas Monthly Magazine and the Texas Super Lawyers in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Mr. Alley is a graduate of Texas Tech University School of Law and practices in the firm’s Appellate Litigation, Commercial Litigation, General Liability and Insurance Litigation and Products Liability Litigation sections. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, El Paso Bar Association, State Bar Association and Texas Association of Defense Counsel. Mr. Alley is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Jason Buckland Joins Nexsen Pruet’s Business Litigation Group
Jason B. Buckland has joined the Greensboro office of Nexsen Pruet Adams Kleemeier as an associate in the firm’s business litigation group.

Previously, Buckland practiced law in a large North Carolina-based law firm in Winston-Salem, where he gained a broad range of experience in complex litigation matters.

“Jason has developed a lot of skills in a relatively short period of time,” said Leighton Lord, board chairman of Nexsen Pruet. “He’s a good addition to our litigation team and I think he’s going to bring immediate value to those we serve.”

Buckland earned his undergraduate degree in finance from Virginia Tech and his law degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law. While at Virginia Tech he played on the varsity football team.

He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Forsyth County Bar Association.

MAUPIN TAYLOR NAMED IN CHAMBERS USA
Maupin Taylor, P.A. is proud to announce the firm has been rated as a top N.C. firm in the 2006 edition of Chambers USA Leading Lawyers for Business.

The firm has been recognized for excelling in the areas of labor and employment, environmental and real estate law since Chambers expanded its reach into the U.S. in 2004.

2 HARRINGTON, HOPPE & MITCHELL PARTNERS NAMED ‘RISING STARS’
Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell Ltd., the Youngstown area’s largest law firm, today announced that two of its partners, Lance A. Morrison and Michael J. McGee, have been selected as “Rising Stars” by Law & Politics Magazine.

The Rising Stars list is a comprehensive and diverse roster of outstanding attorneys age 40 or younger, or in practice 10 years or less. Only 2.5 percent of the lawyers in Ohio are named Rising Stars, based on a selection process that includes the polling of lawyers designated as “Super Lawyers” by Law & Politics.

Ohio’s Rising Stars are featured in the July issues of Law & Politics and Cincinnati magazines. They are also listed in a searchable database at www.superlawyers.com.

Morrison joined Harrington in 1998 and has been a partner since 2003. He chairs the firm’s Business, Employment and Labor Law Group, and works in the firm’s Salem office. Morrison practices in the areas of employment law, corporate law, general business law, business transactions and collections.

He earned his juris doctorate degree from the Ohio State University College of Law in 1992, and prior to that was a national merit scholar while earning his undergraduate degree from Ohio State. Morrison also served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, Judge Advocate Generals Corps after law school. He is a member of the Family Service Agency’s board of directors, the United Way’s Community Impact Team, the Rotary Club of Salem, the Mahoning County Audit Committee, the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber Ambassadors Committee, the American Legion and the Ohio State University Alumni Association.

McGee joined Harrington in 2002 and has been a partner in January. He works in the Warren office, and his practice areas include litigation, insurance law, personal injury, employment law, commercial collections, civil rights law, bankruptcy law, criminal law and traffic law.

Before joining Harrington, McGee was an assistant attorney general for the State of Illinois. He received a juris doctorate degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1995, and holds a bachelor of science degree in architecture from Ohio State University in Columbus. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Warren and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
