WFW advises on four energy/mining AIM transactions in one month
During the last month Watson, Farley & Williams (WFW) has been simultaneously involved in four AIM transactions in the energy/mining sector. It has advised:

GVM Metals Ltd on a £3.2m fundraising to develop its interests in the Holfontein and Limpopo coal mines in Southern Africa;
Irvine Energy plc in its proposed purchase of a 75% stake in Chattanooga Shale in Kansas for £3m. Irvine and the Metro Group will undertake three dimensional seismic studies and drilling programmes to prove the viability of the Chattanooga Shale fields;
Kimberley Diamond Company NL, of Western Australia, on its “fast-track” AIM listing and;
Albidon Ltd on the placing of shares to raise £5.4m to accelerate its African nickel projects.

So far in 2006 WFW has been involved in 14 AIM transactions with a total value in excess of £100m.

As head of the WFW Corporate Finance practice, Jan Mellmann, explains: “Our experience on London’s AIM market is vast, but we have built a particular niche in the energy and mining sectors. Whilst these deals may be relatively small, in comparison to our work for Hardman Resources - the sixth largest company on AIM by market cap., they illustrate perfectly the range of transaction and geographic spread of the companies with which we work. We are also particularly pleased to have been involved in these successful fundraisings despite the current softer market conditions.
