CHAMBERS USA RECOGNIZES 45 BINGHAM MCCUTCHEN ATTORNEYS IN 2006 CLIENT GUIDE
Forty-five Bingham McCutchen attorneys have been named to the Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2006 client guide, which commended 16 of the firm’s practices, placing them among the nation’s legal elite.

Chambers noted Bingham McCutchen in the following practice categories: real estate; antitrust; bankruptcy; corporate; litigation; tax; financial services; banking and finance; environment; construction; telecommunications, media and technology; government relations; energy and natural resources; project finance; and private equity. The antitrust; banking and finance; environment; and real estate practices ranked in the top group of five ratings categories.

“This tremendous firm enjoys an outstanding national reputation in the finance arena,” Chambers said of the banking and finance practice. “Its ‘absolutely first-rate’ domestic and international debt financing practice ‘clearly has the resources’ to handle sizable deals and complex syndicated loans. … Clients attribute its success to a team of ‘high-quality, creative thinkers’ with an ‘incredible depth of knowledge.’”

Bingham McCutchen has established itself in the world’s leading financial centers, including New York, London and Tokyo, and it has also created a significant presence on both the East and West coasts, Chambers said.

“Collaboration, focused diversification and growth by merger and acquisition are the cornerstones of Bingham McCutchen’s success, resulting in a decade of dramatic growth,” Chambers said. Bingham McCutchen merged with legacy Swidler Berlin on March 1, bolstering its Washington presence.

Chambers rates attorneys and law firms after interviews with clients and colleagues. Attorneys are assessed on technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness and astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities clients value most.

""Rising Stars"" are determined by a survey of the most recent group of ""Super Lawyers""–the top 5 percent of attorneys in the state who are chosen based on a survey of attorneys who have been licensed in the state for five years or more, as well as extensive independent credentials research and a blue ribbon panel review process.

The Super Lawyers are asked to vote for the best attorneys who are either 40 or under or who have been practicing 10 or fewer years. They are instructed to vote for lawyers they have personally observed in action.

Additionally, the attorney-led research team reviews the credentials of potential ""Rising Stars."" The final group represents approximately 2.5 percent of the best up-and-coming attorneys in the state.

These lawyers join the 13 Houston lawyers who were named ""Rising Stars"" in Texas in March of this year.
