Blank Rome Joins Forces with Interel

Sorvino Elected to Board of Directors of Ameritrans
Heidi J. Sorvino, a member of the Arent Fox Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Group, has been elected to the board of directors of Ameritrans Capital Corporation. She will serve on the board until the company's 2007 annual shareholders meeting, which is anticipated for the spring of 2007. Ameritrans is a specialty finance company that makes loans to and investments in small businesses.

Sorvino represents creditors, including banks, financial institutions and indenture trustees and debtors in restructurings, workouts and bankruptcies. She has served as counsel to creditors committees and has handled various bankruptcy situations including cash collateral orders, debtor-in-possession financing, automatic stay relief, plan negotiations, sales of assets, preference and fraudulent conveyance actions and trading in claims.

Sorvino’s election is a relative rarity in the business world. In its 2005 Catalyst Census of Women Board Directors of the Fortune 500, Catalyst found that women held only 14.7 percent of all Fortune 500 board seats, up from 13.6 percent in 2003 and 9.6 percent in 1995, when Catalyst began its census. Catalyst is a research and advisory services organization that works to expand opportunities for women at work.

Supreme Court/Appellate Lawyer Jonathan Franklin Joins Fulbright's Washington Office
Jonathan Franklin, a well known and highly regarded U.S. Supreme Court and appellate practitioner, joins the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. as a partner on Monday, July 24. Mr. Franklin, who has appeared on numerous occasions before the Supreme Court and other federal and state appellate courts, will reside in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Franklin, 42, will lead Fulbright's Supreme Court and Appellate Practice Group, which includes 35 attorneys firmwide. He joins Fulbright from the Washington law firm of Hogan & Hartson LLP, where he was a partner.

Mr. Franklin's experience spans a wide range of legal issues. He has handled cases involving constitutional and administrative law and procedure, as well as intellectual property, contract, insurance, civil rights, antitrust, labor, telecommunications and international law.

Mr. Franklin was recently recognized by clients and peers in this year's Chambers USA directory as one of the best appellate lawyers in the country.

Foley Jacksonville Attorneys Selected as 2006 Legal Elite
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that five partners have been named to the 2006 Florida Trend “Legal Elite” list and one senior counsel has been named to the 2006 Florida Trend “Up & Coming Legal Elite” list.

The Foley attorneys and their primary practices as classified by Florida Trend are: David C. Cook, real estate transactions; Gardner F. Davis, business law; Kevin E. Hyde, labor & employment; Linda Y. Kelso, business law; and Emerson M. Lotzia, real estate transactions. In addition, Matthew G. Breuer was named to the “Up & Coming Legal Elite” list.

To compile the list, Florida Trend distributed nomination ballots in October to Florida attorneys who were allowed to vote for up to 10 lawyers. Votes were tallied by an independent company on a point system, and the final list is comprised of 1.8 percent of the 57,968 practicing Florida Bar members. The honorees are mentioned in a special report in the July 2006 issue of the magazine.

David C. Cook is a member of the Real Estate Practice who focuses on commercial and multi-family development and finance. Cook has extensive experience in the acquisition/disposition of timberlands, having acted as counsel to investors, lenders, purchasers and trustees in numerous timberland transactions involving in excess of two million acres located throughout the Southeastern United States. This is the second year that Cook has been recognized as one of Florida's “Legal Elite.”

Gardner F. Davis is a member of the firm's Transactional & Securities, Finance & Financial Institutions, Business Reorganizations, and Private Equity & Venture Capital Practices, as well as the Automotive Industry Team. Davis is particularly knowledgeable in regard to buying, selling, and recapitalizing companies, restructuring financially distressed enterprises, and counseling officers and directors in corporate governance and control situations. Callen advises clients on discrimination avoidance, sexual harassment, drug testing, workplace accommodations, immigration and unemployment compensation. Edmund T. Baxa Jr. is managing partner of the firm's Orlando office and a member of the Construction and the White Collar Defense & Corporate Compliance Practices. He maintains a complex commercial litigation practice focusing on representation of owners, general contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers in contract drafting and negotiation, bid protests, workouts, claims litigation, and arbitration proceedings. In addition to being named one of Florida's “Legal Elite” for the third year in a row, Baxa is also listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers (2005 and 2006). John P. Horan was the first chair and is a current member of the Construction Practice. He has represented international construction and engineering firms; national industrial, infrastructure and highway contractors; homebuilders; designers; and private and public developers and owners. Horan also was named one of Florida's “Legal Elite” in 2005.

Thomas K. Maurer is a member of the firm's Environmental Regulation Practice. For more than 25 years, Maurer has represented clients in environmental and regulatory matters, including air pollution, hazardous waste management, underground storage tank, groundwater contamination and the siting of controversial projects. Maurer also was named one of Florida's “Legal Elite” in 2005.

R. Duke Woodson heads the firm's Environmental Regulation Practice in Florida. He is also a member of the Real Estate Practice and Golf & Resort Industry Team. He represents business and governmental clients throughout the state in environmental compliance and permitting matters. A significant portion of Woodson's practice involves the sale of environmentally sensitive lands to government.
