Fulbright’s Washington Location Accepts the Pro Bono Challenge
Fulbright’s Washington location was honored by the District of Columbia Bar Association for being one of the first 10 District of Columbia law firms accepting the "Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge," sponsored by the D.C. Bar and the Pro Bono Institute of Georgetown University Lae Center.

The Pro Bono Institute set an ambitious standard: to challenge firms to devote either three or five percent of total billable hours to pro bono work. The D.C. Bar, in conjunction with the Chief Judges of the U.S. Federal courts and District of Columbia courts invited all Washington, D.C. offices and law firms to accept the challenge as individual offices. The Washington office agreed, and accepted to maintain the highest commitment available – 5 percent of total billing hours.

"The Washington office is committed to develop and implementing initiatives to expand access to high quality legal services for the people of the District of Columbia," said Scott Maberry, chair of Fulbright’s Washington Pro Bono Committee. "The Pro Bono Institute’s challenge provides a measurable commitment that we look forward to meeting."

At the June 19 D.C. Bar event, Fulbright’s Washington location was honored for its commitment and for its quick acceptance of the challenge. In attendance were the Honorable Eric T. Washington, Chief Judge, DC Court of Appeals, the Honorable Rufus G. King III, Chief Judge, Superior Court of the District of Columbia, the Honorable Douglas H. Ginsburg, Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and the Honorable Thomas F. Hogan, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
