"Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce that it has been named one of the top 50 law firms for women by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, a national consulting firm focused on the retention and advancement of women. Best Law Firms for Women honors Duane Morris for its commitment to the retention and advancement of female lawyers and professional staff. Duane Morris is the only Philadelphia-based firm to make the list.

Profiled in the August/September issue of Working Mother, Duane Morris was selected by the magazine based on its reputation in the industry as well as on the quality of its benefits and compensation, parental leave, flexibility, and retention and advancement of women.

""We are thrilled to have been listed in the very first Best Law Firms for Women issue of Working Mother,"" said Sharon Caffrey, a partner in Duane Morris' Trial Practice and a founder of Duane Morris' Women's Initiative. ""The list is a great way to highlight the issues that are important to the retention and promotion of women lawyers and staff. We applaud the editors for addressing the topic and hope it inspires action within the legal industry to create more opportunities for female lawyers.""

The Duane Morris Women's Initiative is a formal group at the firm that seeks to foster the development, advancement and retention of women lawyers and to make Duane Morris a leader among law firms in women's professional development. As part of the group's programming efforts, the Women's Initiative is creating a number of opportunities for leadership and practice development training, with the goal of assisting its women lawyers in becoming dynamic, successful professionals.

The publication also releases the annual list of the Best Companies for Multicultural Women in the June issue. Working Mother is published by Working Mother Media (WMM), which also owns the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), NAFE Magazine, the annual 100 Best Companies WorkLife Congress, the Best Companies for Multicultural Women Conference and regional Town Halls. Greenberg Traurig Forms Multidisciplinary Subprime and Mortgage Markets Group in Response to Urgent Client Needs
The lawyers of Greenberg Traurig have again utilized the firm's geographic and practice platform to nimbly adapt to an urgent market need.

Given the dramatic changes and challenges in the subprime and mortgage markets generally, the firm has formalized a multidisciplinary group of attorneys and governmental affairs professionals experienced in advising clients with exposure to the new market climate. These professionals are drawn from the Structured Finance, Litigation, Business Reorganization & Bankruptcy, Governmental Affairs and Real Estate practices. They work collaboratively to understand the current trends and develop creative legal services for the firm's clients.

The Subprime and Mortgage Markets Group serves clients who are seeking to evaluate and maximize their investments in the subprime and mortgage space generally, gauge and respond to litigation challenges and modify their investment strategies as the market and legal guidelines evolve. Attorneys in the group have wide-ranging experience drafting and negotiating securitization agreements, as well as litigating the lender liability, common law and securities claims that form the bases of the current lawsuits now inundating these markets. The firm's Business Reorganization & Bankruptcy practice is widely recognized for having far-reaching experience with these issues, particularly within the bankruptcy process and in the various bankruptcy courts throughout the United States.

The firm's well known Governmental Affairs practice will also be a key part of the Group's offering. For example, only last week the Massachusetts Attorney General proposed new regulations governing subprime lending. These regulations are expected to make significant changes in lending practices. Such changes will undoubtedly include new disclosure requirements, as well as the establishment of government-enforced underwriting standards. It is expected that these regulations will serve as models elsewhere in the country, and may well be accompanied by other federal and state legislative efforts focused on subprime lending. The bipartisan Greenberg Traurig team includes a former Massachusetts Attorney General and other former elected officials, U.S Attorneys, top aides and policy officials from the U.S. Congress, executive branch and state governments, and has strength in issues relating to financial institutions.

“Our Subprime and Mortgage Markets Group is another example of Greenberg Traurig’s ability to collaboratively utilize our unmatched national platform and diverse experience in order to deliver a wide range of practical strategies to our clients in real time, as they must urgently react to today's market challenges”, said Richard A. Rosenbaum, President of Greenberg Traurig.

Sidley Named to “Best Law Firms for Women” By Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers
Sidley Austin LLP has been named to the 2007 Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firms for Women. The firm is among a total of 50 law firms selected by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers, a national consulting firm advising lawyers and legal employers on work-life balance and the retention and advancement of women.

This is the inaugural year that Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers have joined forces to compile the “Best Law Firms for Women” list. The 50 winning firms were selected based on their responses to an application measuring six areas of importance: workforce profile, benefits and compensation, parental leave, child care, flexibility and retention and advancement of women.

Sidley’s inclusion on the list was based on its long-standing commitment to the recruitment, retention and promotion of women. The firm’s formal initiative to provide a work environment that fosters the establishment and development of women’s legal careers began in 1998, and its Committee on Retention and Promotion of Women was established to ensure sustained diversity efforts. In 2005, Sidley became the second law firm to win the Catalyst Award, from the leading research and advisory organization dedicated to expanding opportunities for women and business.

“A better place to work for women means a better place for all our colleagues,” commented Thomas A. Cole, Chairman of Sidley’s Executive Committee. “We are certainly gratified to be recognized as a Best Law Firm for Women, because we truly believe we are.”

Currently, Sidley has more than 600 women lawyers and 125 women partners. Many have taken advantage of the firmwide reduced hours policy, which enables lawyers, at both the associate and partner levels, to work a flexible schedule.

“There is no set formula for balancing work and family and no single definition of success for the working mother,” said Laurin Blumenthal Kleiman, firmwide co-chair of Sidley’s Committee on Retention and Promotion of Women. “Thanks to a supportive climate and strong mentors, Sidley women – particularly those with families – are empowered to build a career that works best for them.”
