JMBM Closes 5.9 Million-Square-Foot Real Estate Purchase
Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro LLP (JMBM), one of California’s foremost full-service law firms, today announced that it closed a 5.9 million-square-foot real estate transaction for its client, Arden Realty Limited Partnership, from affiliates of Blackstone Real Estate Acquisitions V LLC. The portfolio of office buildings in the purchase spans six West Coast markets, including San Francisco, Orange County, San Diego, Seattle, Portland and Salt Lake City, and represents Arden's largest acquisition to date.

"An acquisition of this size establishes a significant real estate footprint for Arden on the West Coast, including the Pacific Northwest," said JMBM real estate partner Scott M. Kalt, who brings more than 19 years of real estate experience to the transaction. "It was a challenging transaction involving over two months of intensive legal work to secure the acquisition rights and perform the necessary due diligence analysis, which included a variety of real estate, land use and tax issues."

Comprised of more than 20 lawyers, JMBM's Real Estate Group is seasoned in all aspects of real estate acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing, development, construction, joint venture structuring, land use and related areas. The Firm's veteran real estate attorneys have the experience necessary to identify potential problem areas and to help clients structure and negotiate intricate business transactions ranging from the ordinary to the most complex.

"The magnitude of this deal required an experienced legal team that we could trust to ultimately close a multi-facetted transaction," said David Swartz, Arden Realty's Senior Vice President and General Counsel. "Having represented Arden for the past 15 years, we were confident that JMBM possessed the legal prowess necessary to make this significant acquisition a reality."
