Fox Rothschild Chair Emeritus Receives Sunshine Foundation Humanitarian of the Year Award
The Sunshine Foundation, the world’s first wish-granting organization, celebrates 30 years of fulfilling dreams for seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children with an Impossible Dream Gala on November 18th from 7 to 11PM at the Ballroom at the Ben Franklin Hotel in Philadelphia.

At the event, Sunshine’s President and Founder, Bill Sample, will present Louis W. Fryman, Chair Emeritus of Fox Rothschild LLP and long-time supporter of the Sunshine Foundation, with the 2006 Humanitarian of the Year award.

“The Sunshine Foundation presents its Humanitarian of the Year Award to an individual who exemplifies the commitment and dedication necessary to make dreams come true for Sunshine’s special children, and we are honored to salute Lou Fryman,” said Bill Sample. “Lou’s friendship, guidance and support for the past 30 years has helped Sunshine fulfill over 31,000 children’s dreams.” In addition to the Humanitarian of the Year Award, a brick in Fryman’s honor has been placed along the Children’s Walk in the Sunshine Dream Village in Florida.

Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Irv Homer, popular radio talk show host. Several children whose dreams have been granted will be on hand to help Irv host the festivities.

“I am deeply honored to be recognized by the extraordinary people at the Sunshine Foundation,” said Louis Fryman. “This organization performs solely for the benefit of the youngsters and their families to make life a little better during challenging times. Simply being associated with this group is a privilege unto itself.”

Leading Italian Luxury Furniture Manufacturer in €113.7 Million IPO
Cleary Gottlieb acted as Italian, U.S. and English counsel to Merrill Lynch International and UniCredit Banca Mobiliare S.p.A. as Joint Global Coordinators, Joint Bookrunners and Joint Institutional Lead Managers in Poltrona Frau’s €113.7 million initial public offering. The offering valued the company at €294 million and closed on November 15.

The IPO included a global offering of both primary and secondary shares comprising a public offering of Poltrona Frau’s common stock to retail investors in Italy and an offering to Italian and international institutional investors conducted in accordance with Rule 144A/Regulation S, including a private placement to U.S. qualified institutional buyers. The shares have been listed on the STAR Segment of the Mercato Telematico Azionario managed by Borsa Italiana.

Poltrona Frau is one of the world’s leading producers of luxury home furnishings. It markets its products under four principal brand names — Poltrona Frau, Cassina, Cappellini and Alias — which are among the most recognized and respected brands in the luxury home furnishings industry. It also produces and distributes home furnishings under the Gebrüder Thonet Vienna and Gufram brands and designer lighting products under the Nemo brand. The company is controlled by Charme Investments, a private equity fund managed by Montezemolo & Partners.

Northern European Properties Limited in IPO
Cleary Gottlieb was English and U.S. counsel to Citigroup Global Markets Limited, the Underwriter, and Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited, the Nominated Adviser, in Northern European Properties Limited’s initial public offering on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange. The offering closed on November 15.

Northern European owns a portfolio of 84 commercial and hotel real estate properties in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Lithuania. Within the next twelve to eighteen months, Northern European intends to acquire at least €750 million worth of additional properties in these Nordic and Baltic Regions, with a particular focus on expansion into the area in and around St. Petersburg, Russia. Northern European has selected LR Real Estate Management AB, a subsidiary of London & Regional Group, to manage both the existing portfolio and the portfolio’s expansion. London & Regional Group is a London-based property company that owns a £3.5 billion portfolio of commercial and hotel properties located in the UK, Europe and South Africa.

Valukas to Serve on Federal Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Civil Rules
Jenner & Block Partner Anton R. Valukas was recently selected by United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. to serve as a member of the Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Civil Rules.

The Advisory Committee, which is comprised of a select group of federal judges, attorneys and professors, is responsible for drafting and recommending new rules of federal practice and procedure, as well as amendments to existing rules. After the Advisory Committee meets to consider and revise the drafts of proposed new rules and rule amendments, they are submitted for approval of publication to the Judicial Conference Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure. When necessary, the Advisory Committee also conducts public hearings on the proposed rule changes prior to their publication.

The Judicial Conference of the United States is the principal policy-making body for the federal court system. Membership is comprised of the chief judge of each judicial circuit, the Chief Judge of the Court of International Trade, and a district judge from each regional judicial circuit. The Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court serves as the presiding officer of the Conference.

Mr. Valukas, a former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and Chair of the Firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Counseling practice, began his service on the Advisory Committee on October 1, 2006. He will serve a three year term on the committee.
