Hann a Featured Speaker at PMAA's Environmental-Administrative Event
Steven A. Hann, Esquire, a Partner in the Litigation and Business Departments at Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin was a featured speaker at the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association’s recent Administrative/Environmental Issues Seminar in State College, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hann provided a solicitor's update to seminar attendees on topics such as TMDLs, Water Quality Trading, new wastewater treatment initiatives, EPA's recent Ground Water Rule, Eminent Domain legislation in Pennsylvania and litigation issues affecting municipal authorities.

Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin is the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association's Eastern Regional Solicitor.

Salans advises Furshet on US$75m LPN transaction
Salans' Kyiv and London offices have recently advised Furshet, the largest supermarket chain in Ukraine, as borrower on a US$75m LPN transaction. The financing was arranged for Furshet by Renaissance Capital.

The transaction involved an issue of loan participation notes by an affiliate of Renaissance Capital, the proceeds of which were used to fund a loan to Anthousa Limited, a holding company for the Furshet group. The Bank of New York acted as paying agent/trustee in respect of the note issue.

Oleg Batyuk, Igor Davidenko, Igor Mehedynyuk and Oleksandr Tytov advised on Ukrainian law issues, whilst on the English law side, Mira Davidovski negotiated the legal opinion, Jonathan Denton advised on the notes and transaction structure, and Abigail Townley handled the financing issues.

Renaissance Capital and the Bank of New York were represented by Simmons & Simmons.

Yves Huyghé de Mahenge rejoint le bureau de Paris de LeBoeuf Lamb

Yves Huyghé de Mahenge joins LeBoeuf Lamb's Paris office
LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP is pleased to announce that Yves Huyghé de Mahenge has joined the firm's Paris office as a partner.

Yves Huyghé de Mahenge has wide-ranging expertise in a number of LeBoeuf Lamb's key practice areas, and advises, in particular, on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and international projects. Formerly an associate professor at the University of Aix-Marseille, Yves Huyghé de Mahenge was also a member of the Council of the Paris Bar (Conseil de l'Ordre du Barreau de Paris) from 2003 to 2005. In addition, he had a key role in the development of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's Paris office, and he also founded the firm's Italian offices.

Orrick Lawyer Helping Iranian Family Apply for Asylum
Moscow litigation partner Olga Anisimova was interviewed on CNN News about Zahra Kamalfar, an Iranian asylum seeker who has been at the Moscow airport with her two kids for six months. Orrick lawyers have begun applying for political asylum on the family's behalf on a pro bono basis. "I think it's difficult for her even to find such a lawyer, because she has to stay at the airport," Anisimova commented.

Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw advises Talarius plc on its proposed acquisition by European Gaming for £137.2 million
Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP's London Corporate Group is advising AIM-listed Talarius plc, one of the cash shells established by Marwyn Capital, on its recommended acquisition by European Gaming Limited, a new company formed for the purpose of making the acquisition, indirectly owned by Tattersall's and Macquarie Bank, for 270 pence in cash per Talarius share.

The acquisition will be effected by means of a Scheme of Arrangement under section 425 of the Companies Act and values the entire issued share capital on a fully diluted basis of Talarius at approximately £137.2 million.

The Scheme will be subject, amongst other things, to approval by Scheme Shareholders and sanction by the Court. It is expected that, if approved, the Scheme will become effective in early February 2007.

Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw advised Talarius plc following its admission to AIM in April 2005. The firm advised on its re-admission to AIM following its reverse takeover in May 2005 of RAL Holdings Limited for approximately £39 million. Additionally, the firm advised Talarius on its acquisition in July 2005 of Leisure Promotions Ltd and In to Save Ltd, both UK based gaming companies managed together under the 'Royals' format, Blackheath Leisure (Carousel) Limited in November 2005 and Leisurama Holdings Limited and Leisurama Entertainments Limited in March 2006.

The Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP team is led by corporate partner Stephen Bottomley supported by Kate Ball-Dodd, Duncan Wilson, Sarah Knight, Michelle Wyatt and Andrew Stanger in relation to share incentives.

Numis is acting as broker and financial adviser to Talarius. Panmure Gordon is acting as broker and joint financial adviser, with Macquarie, to European Gaming.
