Gideon Rothschild named Top 100 Attorneys in America two years in a row
Moses & Singer proudly announces that for the second year in succession Gideon Rothschild has been named to 'WORTH' Magazine's Top 100 Attorneys in America list in its December 2006 issue. WORTH magazine selects those attorneys who serve affluent families and only 12 on the list were from New York. The list resulted from a year of extensive research by WORTH's editorial staff. The editors reviewed hundreds of nominations by readers, as well those provided by financial advisors, family office executives, accountants, consultants, academics and others who work with or closely monitor attorneys. The nominees from that list completed a detailed questionnaire. And in determining their selections, WORTH's editors looked for attorneys that serve clients with sufficient net worth and who have the professional affiliations and publishing history to indicate that they could provide extraordinary expertise to a WORTH reader.

To pare its list down to 100, WORTH's editorial staff asked nominees for their opinions on important legal trends and to share with WORTH what counsel they have given their clients. They also critically assessed the nominees’ views on the best and worst qualities of lawyers in their field and performed extensive background checks on the nominees.

South Carolina Defense Verdict for LF&W
Lightfoot, Franklin & White partners Sam Franklin and Melody Eagan today obtained a defense verdict for Fisher Controls, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Emerson Electric Co., in a South Carolina product liability case arising from an LP gas explosion and fire that occurred in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Plaintiffs were two LP gas servicemen who were severely burned in the fire, as well as their respective wives who alleged loss of consortium claims. The two injured plaintiffs' undisputed medical expenses to date were over $2.68 million, and plaintiffs claimed over $1 million in past and future economic loss.

Plaintiffs alleged that a Fisher filler hose adaptor valve installed on an LP gas tank was defective and unreasonably dangerous, resulting in the fire and plaintiffs' injuries. The case, pending in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, initially tried in June, 2006, for seven days, but the jury was deadlocked 10 to 1 in favor of Fisher. The case retried in November 2006. On December 1, 2006, after six hours of deliberation, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of Fisher.

Heather L. Rosing Named President-Elect of the San Diego County Bar Association
Klinedinst PC is pleased to announce that
Heather L. Rosing, a shareholder in the firm's San Diego office, has been selected by her peers to be President-Elect of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA).

With over 8,000 members, the San Diego County Bar Association is the region's oldest and largest law-related organization. Rosing has been an active member of the SDCBA since 1996. A frequent speaker on complex ethics issues, Heather has served as Co-Chair of the SDCBA's Legal Ethics Committee. In 2003, she was elected by the general membership to join the Board of Directors. Rosing's work with the Association, her enthusiasm, and her commitment to the legal profession led the Board of Directors to pick her as their newest President-Elect.

"The roster of SDCBA past presidents reads like a 'Who's Who' of the legal community," said John D. Klinedinst, CEO of Klinedinst PC. "Heather will be joining a very prestigious list of attorneys and judges that have held that honor. And when she is sworn in as President late next year, she will be one of the youngest attorneys to ever lead the SDCBA."

Ms. Rosing went to work at Klinedinst after graduating from Northwestern Law School. For most of her career, Heather has been defending attorneys, accountants, and other professionals in malpractice actions, and providing ethics and risk management guidance to them. Over the years, she has ascended to various leadership positions within the firm. She currently serves as General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer for the firm, and is the Chair of the Klinedinst Professional Liability practice group.

"What sets Klinedinst apart is our commitment to helping individuals achieve their own goals," added Klinedinst. "While we know her new role will require a major time commitment, Heather unequivocally has the full support and backing of the entire law firm. On both a professional and personal level, I could not be prouder of her accomplishment."

Ms. Rosing will be formally sworn-in as President-Elect at the SDCBA's "Stepping Up to the Bar" event on December 1, 2006. For more information on the San Diego County Bar Association.

Jackson Lewis LLP, a national workplace law firm, has announced four attorneys from McDonald Hopkins have joined the firm's Cleveland office. With these additions, Jackson Lewis can better assist Cleveland and Northeastern Ohio businesses manage the constantly changing labor and workplace laws.

Joining the Cleveland office are Partners James M. Stone, who is the Cleveland Resident Manager, and Jeffrey B. Keiper. Also joining the firm are David E. "We are excited about the opportunity to expand our special style of practice in the Cleveland metro area and throughout the Akron, Canton and Youngstown areas," said Patrick L. Vaccaro, the firm's Managing Partner. "Jackson Lewis has counseled businesses in Cleveland and Northeastern Ohio for many years. But we are especially pleased to have local attorneys of this caliber join us. We expect great things from our Cleveland regional team."

" Cleveland companies are no longer insular and self-contained the way they once were. Increasingly entrepreneurial, they are part of the larger economy of the nation and the world," said Stone. "Businesses in northern and northeastern Ohio, especially in the areas of manufacturing, transportation and health care, face high union presence or the threat of unionization," said Stone. "Resolving union and employee issues favorably in ways that allow companies to prosper is a challenge best addressed by a legal team that is both local to the client and national by network. Companies in Cleveland, Youngstown, Akron, Canton and environs, have us on the ground and within short drive times. They also have 400 additional workplace law experts in 27 cities, many of them acknowledged and published labor law leaders and highly visible industry speakers."

Lynn Outwater, Regional Managing Partner for the Jackson Lewis offices in both Cleveland and Pittsburgh, adds "almost no area of law changes as quickly as labor and employment law. A change in administration, the new Ohio minimum wage initiative and recent changes in the Fair Labor Standards Act for overtime pay, will place tremendous pressure on employers. Jackson Lewis' consistent focus on preventive workplace strategies provides a compelling value proposition for businesses of all sizes and in all industries."

Mr. Stone and Mr. Keiper were partners together at their former firm, McDonald Hopkins Co., LPA, where Mr. Stone served for over 12 years as leader of the labor and employment practice group. With over 20 years of experience in labor and employment law, Mr. Stone has extensive experience in union negotiations, arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges, and wage and hour claims, and employment litigation. He is particularly knowledgeable about the manufacturing, transportation, automotive, steel and health care industries. Mr. Keiper, who has successfully defended complex employment litigation for large manufacturing and service companies, will serve as the principal litigation attorney for the Cleveland office, as well as counseling employers in labor relations and other employment matters. Several recent matters handled by Mr. Stone, Mr. Keiper and their colleagues have been reported by the national media.

Mr. Weisblatt and Ms. Monachino come to Jackson Lewis from the same former firm. Mr. Weisblatt has extensive experience in National Labor Relations Board law, employment counseling, labor negotiations and union-free workplace campaigns. He is experienced in public sector labor law, technology issues, and other employment matters. Ms. Monachino has experience counseling employers in wage and hour, employee leaves, employment discrimination, and affirmative action matters, in addition to employment policies and practices.
